*Introducing the Lesson*
Paul's primary reason for writing this letter was to rejoice in the Thessalonian believers'
faithfulness. The first three chapters are filled with encouragement and celebration over the news about them that was spreading throughout the entire region. Chapter 4 begins with "finally" (NLT: "furth ermore," KJV), but we shouldn't assume that what follows was less important than the rest of his letter. Chapters 4 and 5 provide meaningful instruction, some of which was inspired by the real -time challenges in the Thessalonian church.

*The Holy Scriptures*
1 Thessalonians 4:
[1]Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
[2]For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
[3]For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
[4]That every one of you should know how to possess

*Introducing the Lesson*
Many of the topics Paul
addressed in this letter seem to relate to specific points from Timothy's update. Paul's quick transition between topics indicates Paul was responding to individual pieces of information Timothy had shared with him.
The unique circumstances of Paul's original audience drive the content of this letter-and his other letters. We can learn a great deal from how he addresses each situation, but our first responsibility when reading the epistles is to understand the original audience and how the message would have affected them. Only then can we truly grasp the full meaning of Paul's words and apply them to our own lives.

*Introducing the Lesson*
Before coming to Thessalonica, Paul and Silas were mistreated and unjustly imprisoned in Philippi. They were even " stripped and beaten with wooden rods" (Acts 16:22). It was during this imprisonment that an earthquake shook the prison, causing the captives' chains to fall off and the prison doors to open. The jailer and his entire household believed and were baptised that night (verses 33-34). When the city officials learned Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were released and told to leave the city. But before they left Philippi, they went to Lydia's home and enco

*>>Focus*
Sometimes it's hard to look at life long-term. Ours is a world of instant gratification. But if we live by this philosophy, we open ourselves up to all kinds of problems, from financial difficulties to the tragedies that often. accompany high-risk behaviour. And for teens, the pull toward living for today can be even stronger.

Teaching this lesson may be especially challenging if your students follow this short-sighted view of life. The major prophets spoke in detail about Christ centuries before He actually came. God's long-term plan to send Jesus to earth as Redeemer might be hard to comprehend. Some students may simply be satisfied to know that He came, He rose from the dead, and they're saved. Yet, the words the Old Testament prophets wrote about Christ hold incredible significance for us today.

One good approach to this study is to help students see that God thought about their well-being from the beginning. And they can have confidence in the fact that His concern for them has not decreased. Help them understand that God's care extends to their relatio

Today, in this lesson, we shall learn why this is the case. Our lesson will reveal why exchange of gifts is a Christmas tradition.

LESSON COMMENTARY:
1. The Birth of Jesus Christ
These are the facts concerning the birth of Jesus Christ. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph, but while she was still a virgin she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her fiancé, being a man of stern principle, decided to break the engagement but to do it quietly, as he did not want to disgrace her publicly.
As he lay awake considering this, he fell into a dream, and saw an angel standing beside him. "Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not hesitate to take Mary as your wife! For the child within her has been conceived b
