Texts: John 15:1–11; Revelation 3:20
Theme: Strategic Relationship
A strategic relationship is a relationship that is intentional, purposeful, and capable of helping a person grow and achieve a greater purpose in life.
As Christians, one of the most important strategic relationships we can have is a relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus should not merely be someone we know about; He should be our partner, guide, and source of strength.
In a strategic relationship with Jesus, He hears us with passion, cares about us, and desires to lead us to a greater height. When we maintain a close relationship with Him, He directs our steps and helps us fulfil His purpose for our lives.
John 15:1–11 teaches us about abiding in Christ. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it remains connected to the vine, we cannot truly bear good fruit in our lives without remaining connected to Jesus. Our relationship with Christ must therefore be continuous and intentional.
Revelation 3:20 also reminds us that Jesus desires to have fellowship with us. He stands at the door and knocks, inviting us to open our hearts to Him. This shows that Jesus wants a personal relationship with every believer.
Therefore, we must prioritise our relationship with Jesus above every other relationship. We should spend time in prayer, study His Word, obey His instructions, and allow Him to guide our decisions.
God can bring certain people into our lives to help us fulfil our purpose and take us to a greater height. These people may provide the support, guidance, encouragement, knowledge, or opportunities we need to progress in life. Therefore, we should be sensitive enough to recognise the right people God brings our way and value such relationships. We should also strive to be a blessing to others, because we may also be the strategic partner God has placed in someone else’s life to help them move forward.
Most importantly, God should be involved in our relationships. We need His wisdom to recognise the right people and discern relationships that are beneficial to our destiny.
