A DAY OF GRACE AND THANKSGIVING: REV. ALPHA EFFIONG ORDAINED TO THE PRIESTHOOD
It was a joyful and memorable day of grace for the Catholic Diocese of Uyo as the faithful gathered at St. Dominic Church of Perpetual Adoration, Uyo, for the Priestly Ordination of Rev. Alpha Effiong, son of St. Paulβs Parish, Afi Uda.
The sacred celebration, held today, Saturday, 19th September 2026, at 9:00 a.m., brought together priests, religious and lay faithful from across the Diocese of Uyo to witness and celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in the life and ministry of the newly ordained priest.
The occasion was graced by His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Ekuwem, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Calabar, while the Ordination Mass was celebrated by His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. John Ebebe Ayah, Bishop of Uyo Diocese.
Surrounded by the prayers and support of the clergy, religious and lay faithful, Rev. Alpha Effiong was ordained a priest in an atmosphere filled with faith, thanksgiving and joy.
For St. Paulβs Parish, Afi Uda, it was particularly a moment of immense joy and pride as one of their sons answered the call to serve God and His people through the sacred priesthood.
The celebration was more than an ordination; it was a testimony of Godβs faithfulness, a celebration of vocation and a reminder of the beauty of giving oneself in service to God and humanity.
Congratulations, Rev. Alpha Effiong!
May God grant you grace, wisdom, strength and a fruitful priestly ministry. May your priesthood continually bear witness to Christ and bring many souls closer to God.
