UMUAHIA CENTRAL PRESBYTERY CELEBRATES 3RD ANNIVERSARY AND OPENS 2026 ECCLESIASTICAL YEAR
In a day of thanksgiving and vision casting, Umuahia Central Presbytery celebrated three years of growth and formally declared the 2026 Ecclesiastical Year open. The service was marked by spiritual fervour, fellowship, and renewed commitment to advancing God’s work.
Moderator’s Address
The Moderator of the Presbytery, Very Rev. Paul Alozie, presided over the Holy Communion and delivered his address, highlighting key achievements of the Presbytery over the past three years. He said,
“We must continue to build God’s Kingdom together, ensuring no missionary goes unsupported and every mission station thrives in God’s grace.”
He outlined his 2026 vision, which includes:
- Establishing additional mission stations.
- Ensuring prompt payment of missionaries’ stipends.
- Launching a business venture to reduce the Presbytery’s financial dependence on parishes.
- Procuring an evangelism bus to enhance outreach.
He thereafter formally declared the 2026 Ecclesiastical Year open.
Guest Preacher’s Message
The Guest Preacher, Apostle Ikechukwu, spoke on the theme “Grace Upon Grace,” drawing from John 8:1–8. He emphasized that the grace of God overrides negative laws and limitations, enabling believers to live victorious lives. Apostle Ikechukwu also led the congregation in prophetic prayers for the new year, invoking God’s guidance and blessings.
Ceremonial Highlights
The service featured the cutting of the anniversary cake and the presentation of awards to several members of the Presbytery, in recognition of their dedication, support, and commitment to God’s work.
Attendance and Worship
The service was graced by the Moderator of Umuahia Synod, Rt. Rev. Chinedu Itam Okoroafor, PhD, who prayed for the Presbytery and its leadership and participated in the ceremonial cutting of the cake.
The gathering also drew Ministers in charge of parishes within the bounds of the Presbytery, members of the Presbyterial Arms, Elders, the Boy's & Girls Brigade, and parishioners, adding vibrancy and spiritual warmth to the celebration.
The Clerk of Presbytery, Very Rev. James Okafor, conducted the service, while the Classical Mass Choir, under the leadership of Mr. Emmanuel Shillings, led the congregation in worship using the How Excellent Hymnal.
Appreciation
The Planning Committee, led by Rev. Vigo Barisitomka, was commended by the Moderator for their excellent preparation and ex*****on of the event.

The celebration reaffirmed the Presbytery’s commitment to mission, growth, and faithful service to God, while inspiring members to embrace God’s grace for the year ahead.
