MICHAEL DAY CELEBRATION IN C&S

When Orimolade announced to the members that CAPTAIN would be chosen for the Band, a lot of thoughts were going on in the hearts of members, especially the Elders, because they thought Orimolade wanted to copy what other Churches were doing and therefore, they believed one of them would become the Captain of C&S.

Brethren, the insatiable quest for positions (oye) didn’t just start today, but Orimolade never gave room for it.

Because some people thought they would become the Captain, they started preparing. Some even, on their own shortlisted candidates for the position. Some of them were already campaigning to members, so that they could be chosen as the Captain of the Order, as if it would be done by electioneering process. To the extent that some Elders had sown new garments to be worn as the newly appointed Captain of the Band. LOL! The hunger of the Elites in C&S for titles and positions didn’t start today.

In all this, Orimolade kept his cards very close to his chest, looking and observing all that was going on, laughing at their foolishness within himself.

Surprisingly, to their rude shock, Orimolade informed them in the morning of 29th September, 1925, that by 9am that same morning, the Band would have her Captain. That of course appeared too sudden for them. How would those that were deceiving themselves entertain members after one of them is announced as the Captain of C&S? 😁

At exactly 9am, on 29th September, 1925, Orimolade called the members outside. Remember they had no church building and he was mostly a squatter. And by tradition, they used the compound of his residence for their services. He prayed to the four corners of the universe, and ended it by facing the East, and pronounced,

HOLY MICHAEL! HOLY MICHAEL!! HOLY MICHAEL!!! YOU ARE THIS DAY CHOSEN TO BE THE CAPTAIN OF THIS BAND ON EARTH!

Immediately, a great light appeared, brighter than the illumination of the sun from the eastward, along with a great wind. Everyone present felt the movement of an angel, as they felt the flapping of wings, but the light that shone didn’t allow them see him.
Thereafter, Orimolade asked them to shout seven Halleluyah, seven Hossanah and seven Iye.

Immediately, Holy Ghost expressed Himself amidst them and people were in the Spirit and that same day, this powerful song was released from heaven, through the trance of one of them, and thought the members present;

This song is dedicated to Archangel Michael. It celebrates him as God’s warrior angel who fights and defeats Satan, while also encouraging the church (Egbe Kerubu/Serafu) to be strong in faith because victory is assured through Jesus Christ.

Here’s a breakdown of the meaning of each stanza in plain interpretation.
Look at the Song very well, you will discover it is Jesus being praised and not Michael; "E dide Omo Ogun Igbala, gbe oruko Jesu ga", not "Gbe oruko Michael ga". There is only one name given to us that every tongue bows to and it is JESUS not Michael.

1. Calling believers to rise up and exalt the name of Jesus.
The day is great because archangel Michael is present.

Chorus: Holy Michael the warrior is the guide of the church till the end. With his help, the group will overcome Satan.

2. Thanksgiving that Michael belongs to the Seraphim fold.
No matter the Devil's attack, Michael will conquer him.

3. Heaven and earth tremble in fear, but Michael struck Satan with his sword.

4. Those who remain faithful will be saved.

5. The cherubim band should not fear, because Michael is theirs.
Witches and evil powers no longer have authority over the Holy church.

6. Jesus, the holy son of the father is glorified.
Michael has defeated Satan, and all the forces of darkness are scattered.

7. Looking ahead to the end of life/judgement day, the prayer that God should keep them safe from Satan's hand.
So, they may receive the crown of eternal life.

We will keep saying this, most of our indigenous songs came from the place of high inspiration and no mortal has the right to change a single word of those songs without the Holy Ghost saying so. No one, no matter how highly placed, is our compass, Holy Ghost is!

Happy Holy Michael Day Celebrations .
