The Nigerian Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS) is currently holding its conference, and we are pleased to inform our esteemed members that the UDUS Chapter is duly represented at the ongoing programme.

Yesterday’s session featured a keynote lecture titled:

“Shari’ah Implementation in a Secular State: Historical Background, Challenges and the Way Forward.”

The lecture was delivered by Prof. M. B. Usman at the Musa Abdullahi Auditorium.

The session was highly insightful and intellectually enriching, addressing critical issues surrounding the application of Shari’ah within a secular legal framework, with particular emphasis on historical developments, contemporary challenges, and practical pathways forward.

We appreciate the efforts of the national body in organizing this impactful conference and reaffirm the commitment of NAMLAS UDUS Chapter to active participation in programmes that promote legal scholarship and Islamic jurisprudence.

In a remarkable display of intellectual curiosity and professional enthusiasm, a dynamic group of law students from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) accepted the esteemed invitation extended by the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Birnin-Kebbi Branch, Equity Chamber. The attendees unanimously praised the program, describing it as a groundbreaking and enriching experience that exceeded their expectations. The guest speakers, renowned for their expertise and eloquence, delivered assertive and informative lectures that left a lasting impression on the audience. The distinguished speakers included Prof. M.L. Ahmadu, Vice Chancellor of Rayhan University; Prof. Ibrahim Abdullahi SAN; Dr. J.B. Marshall, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Kebbi State; Justice Maryam Kawoje, High Court Judge; and Justice Abubakar Adamu of Sokoto High Court, who is also a patron of NAMLAS_UDUS.

CONDOLENCE LETTER ON THE DEMISE OF DR. A. A. ISIYAKA

On behalf of the Nigerian Association of Muslim Law Students (NAMLAS), UDUS Chapter, we extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, students, and the entire academic community over the passing of Dr. A. A. Isiyaka.

The news of his demise came to us with great shock and sadness. Dr. Isiyaka was not only a distinguished lecturer but also a mentor who shaped minds with humility, wisdom, and sincerity. His commitment to knowledge, his gentle character, and his dedication to the growth of students will remain a lasting legacy in our hearts.

Indeed, “To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return.” We pray that Allah (Subhānahu wa Ta'ālā) forgive his shortcomings, illuminate his grave, expand it for him, and admit him among His righteous servants. May Allah grant his family patience, strength, and comfort during this difficult moment.

May Allah make this loss a means of elevation for him and a reminder for us all.

Wassalāmu alaikum wa rahmatulLāhi wa barakātuh.
