Sokoto Pilgrims Welfare Agency Partners Immigration Service to Fast-Track E-Passport Production for 2027 Hajj Pilgrims

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) has partnered with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Sokoto State Command, to facilitate and hasten the production of International E-Passports for intending pilgrims ahead of the 2027 Hajj.

The partnership followed a meeting between the Agency and the Sokoto State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service, aimed at finding ways to ensure that intending pilgrims obtain their travel documents within the shortest possible time.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, said the meeting was initiated by the Agency in view of the 26 September 2026 deadline for the uploading of intending pilgrims’ data onto the E-Registration portal.

He explained that timely acquisition of valid international passports was critical to the successful completion of the electronic registration process, hence the need for close collaboration between the Agency and the Immigration Service.

Alhaji Aliyu Musa said it was resolved at the meeting that intending pilgrims would be accorded special consideration in the processing of their E-Passports, with a view to reducing the current two-week processing period applicable to regular applicants.

The Chairman commended the Sokoto State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for its continued support and cooperation with the Pilgrims Welfare Agency, expressing confidence that the partnership would contribute significantly to the smooth conduct of the 2027 Hajj registration exercise.

Responding, the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Sokoto State Command, Alhaji Ismaila Musa Chonoko, assured the Agency of the Command’s readiness to work hand in hand with it towards ensuring the success of the 2027 Hajj operation and future Hajj exercises.

Alhaji Chonoko explained that the existing two-week processing period for international passports is a national policy, while assuring that the Command would explore available avenues within its mandate to give the intending pilgrims the necessary support and priority required for the Hajj exercise.

The two institutions agreed to maintain close communication and cooperation to ensure that eligible intending pilgrims are able to obtain their passports and complete the electronic registration process within the stipulated deadline.

Sokoto PWA Announces ₦7,672,882 Final Fare for 2027 Hajj

The Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has announced ₦7,672,882 (Seven Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Two Naira) as the final fare for the 2027 Hajj.

The final fare was announced today by the Chairman of the Agency, Alhaji Aliyu Musa, following a management meeting of the Agency held to review preparations for the forthcoming 2027 Hajj operation.

The Chairman also announced 26th September 2026 as the deadline for the registration of intending pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj.

Alhaji Aliyu Musa therefore called on all intending pilgrims who have registered for the pilgrimage to hasten the submission of their valid International Passports and ten (10) copies of recent passport photographs to their respective Hajj Registration Officers.

He explained that the Saudi Arabian Nusuk Masar portal is currently open for electronic registration and uploading of pilgrims' details, stressing the need for intending pilgrims to submit the required documents without further delay.

The Chairman further cautioned that payment of Hajj fare alone, without submission of a valid International Passport, does not guarantee participation in the 2027 Hajj.

He urged intending pilgrims to comply with all registration requirements and deadlines to avoid being excluded from the electronic registration process and subsequent arrangements for the pilgrimage.

The management meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar JJ, and all Directors of the Sokoto State Pilgrims Welfare Agency.

The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth, well-organised and successful 2027 Hajj operation for the people of Sokoto State.
