TOPIC: RAISING CHRISTIAN CHILDREN

1 SAMUEL 2:12–22; 8:1–3

πŸ”‘ *KEY VERSE:*
"I and the children thou have given to me are for signs and
wonders" (Isaiah 8:18)

πŸ“œ *ONE YEAR STUDY PLAN*
JEREMIAH 18–22

πŸ–ŠοΈ *COMMENTARY*
The above key verse expresses a declaration of being marked for divine purpose, signifying that the speaker and his offspring are meant to be witnesses and examples of God's power and works. The same is expected of us believers even in this wicked and adulterous generation.

Unfortunately, in reality, this is not always the case. There are many instances where even pastors' children lived a life that contradicted what their parents preach. Such pastors' children are like those of Eli's. Eli, no doubt, was a good man. But his children were described as "scoundrel" (wicked). They had no regard for the Lord, treated His offering with contempt and r***d women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting. This gives credit to Hannah, whose boy, Samuel, grew up. among such corrupt boys but did not tow their line.

Ironically, Samuel himself did not have a better experience with his children than his master, Eli. His children did not walk in his ways; they turned aside after dishonest gain, took bribes and perverted justice (1 Samuel 8: 3). Our children must not live like the world. Even though they are in the world, they are not of the world. The Christian home is chosen and set apart by God to show God's light in a dark world. Other children may, Christian kids cannot.

Every Christian parent should strive to inculcate into their children the fact that they are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation; they are role models to the world. Others may, they cannot.

πŸ“– *FURTHER READING*

πŸ–ŠοΈ *COMMENTARY*
Paul the Apostle of Christ devoted himself to prayers not only for himself, but also for the believers, both Jews and Gentiles. He went to God confidently and reverentially because he knew that God would answer his petitions. In one of such prayers, Paul prayed for the Ephesian believers.

Today, as we reflect on Paul's prayer for the Ephesian believers, it is necessary that we take to heart the content of his petitions. Prominent in Paul's petition to God for the Ephesians is that God will, out of His glorious riches, strengthen them in their inner being, that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith. Also, that they may be rooted and established in love and have the power of God. All believers should grasp and understand the greatness of Christ's love and this love that surpasses all knowledge

It is important we pray for one another. Just as Paul asked for essential knowledge that would help us in our Christian life and heavenly race, so shall we daily ask for one another. The love of
Christ in our innermost being will propel us to remain in the Lord and be united in faith. When we are one in Christ, we are spiritually strengthened. Let us carry one another with fervent prayers as Christ and beloved Paul have taught us. I believe that God will answer our prayers when we do it in all sincerity.

🎚 *CONTROLLING THOUGHTS*
Praying for each other will enrich our individual Christian life.

πŸ™πŸΏ *PRAYER*
Oh Lord, help me to be an encouragement to the brethren through my prayers, I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ Amen.
