Have You Ever Felt Lost and Didn’t Know What Decision to Make...??
Sister Felix shares how turning to prayer and the scriptures brought her peace and strengthened her testimony — and how it helps her every day as a Full-time missionary.
"When I Didn’t Know What To Do Next"

During my first few years after high school,
I tried everything.
I took different jobs. I focused on learning a skill. I wanted to make choices that would bring blessings — not just to me, but to my family and everyone around me.
But the more I tried,
The more confused I became.
“Is this the right path? What am I even good at?”
Slowly, the doubt crept in. I started underestimating myself. Negative thoughts filled my mind.
And the hardest part?
I felt myself drifting. My testimony of the gospel began to feel weak.
I felt lost in my own self.
One day,
I made a decision. If I couldn’t find answers on my own, I would turn to the One who could.
I opened the scriptures.
As I was studying,
I came across the Book of Mormon, Jacob chapter 4. Verse 7 stopped me:
“Nevertheless, the Lord God showeth us our weakness that we may know that it is by his grace, and his great condescension unto the children of men, that we have power to do these things.” — Jacob 4:7
I pictured myself in that verse. All the things I wasn’t good at. All the areas where I felt imperfect.
And yet God was saying: I show you your weakness so you’ll know it’s My grace that makes you strong.
Then I read verse 10:
“Wherefore, brethren, seek not to counsel the Lord, but to take counsel from his hand. For behold, ye yourselves know that he counseleth in wisdom, and in justice, and in great mercy, over all his works.” — Jacob 4:10.
As I pondered,
A simple truth came to me: "Prayer."
God is our loving Heavenly Father. He knows us. He loves us personally. He cares about our physical and spiritual well-being.
In a world full of noise, chaos, and deceit, He still wants to speak to us. And He does — when we turn to Him in honest and sincere prayers.
I started praying. Really praying. Not just asking, but listening. Trusting in the Savior, Jesus Christ.
And I felt it — comfort, peace, and joy. The kind that doesn’t make sense on paper.
That experience brought my testimony back to life and drew me closer to the Savior.
How Prayer Carries Me as a Sister Missionary:
Today,
As a sister missionary, that principle of prayer is what carries me every single day.
There are days when I don’t have the right words to teach. Days when a door closes. Days when I wonder if I’m making any difference.
But I’ve learned to take counsel from His hand, not my own.
Before I knock on a door, I pray.
When I feel inadequate, I pray.
When I see someone’s heart soften, I pray in gratitude.
Because of Jacob 4, I know this: I don’t have to be perfect. His grace is enough.
And because of prayer, I know I’m not alone. God speaks to me. He guides me. He strengthens me to do His work.
If you’re feeling lost, confused, or doubting yourself right now — you’re not alone either.
Turn to Him. Ask Him.
He will tell you in your mind and in your heart. He will show you that His wisdom is greater than ours, and His mercy covers all.
I testify that prayer is real. Jesus Christ lives. And because of Him, we can find peace even when we don’t have all the answers.
