Born in Amesi, Anambra State, Cardinal Peter Okpaleke’s path to the College of Cardinals was marked by trials, humility, and unwavering faith.

Appointed Bishop of Ahiara in 2012, he faced resistance rooted in ethnic tensions and was unable to take possession of the diocese. Choosing peace over conflict, he resigned in 2018, surrendering everything to God's will.

But God was not done with him. In 2020, he was appointed Bishop of Ekwulobia, and in 2022, Pope Francis elevated him to the College of Cardinals.

Today, he stands as Nigeria’s only voting Cardinal for the next conclave — a living testament that when man says no, God says yes.

From rejection to elevation — a true testimony of God’s plan unfolding in His perfect time.
