Series Title: Torn Pages: The Diary of a Runaway Pastor’s Daughter
📖 Episode 5: “The Notebook and the Note”
The woman’s name was Sister Mercy.
Not a coincidence.
Dara didn’t speak much — just nodded, wiped tears, and listened as this stranger shared parts of her past:
teenage pregnancy, rejection, two su***de attempts, and the night she screamed at God from a gutter in Lagos.
> “He didn’t strike me down,” Mercy said with a soft smile. “He picked me up. Covered my shame. Called me His daughter again.”
Before leaving, Mercy placed the small notebook into Dara’s trembling hands.
“Read it later,” she said, “when you’re alone. It helped me when I couldn’t hear God’s voice.”
Dara watched her walk out the coffee shop door — just like that. No questions, no judgement, no phone number.
Just… love.
Back in her dusty room, Dara finally opened the notebook.
Inside were handwritten prayers, scriptures, and a folded note.
The note read:
> “Dear daughter of the Most High,
This detour doesn’t define your destiny.
The same God who saw Hagar by a desert well sees you now.
He hasn’t given up. Neither should you.”
Signed at the bottom:
– Someone who finally believed again
Dara covered her face. The tears wouldn’t stop.
Maybe this was how God speaks. Not through lightning, but through letters. Not through thunder, but through strangers named Mercy.

🙇♀️ Reflection:
God often writes through human hands and speaks through broken voices. Never underestimate what one word of hope can do for a soul on the edge.
