*π The MESSAGE:*
Giving instructions to children is one of the tasks of parenting. But this task could be highly demanding, especially when children agree to heed instructions, but act contrarily. No parent is happy to see that the instruction given to their children is neglected.
In the earlier chapter to todayβs text, God had just made a covenant with the children of Israel and told them not to turn away so that they could prosper. God told them that turning away from Him would become a poison to them (and poison does only one thing, that is, damage life and most times to the point of death). God added that if they repent and turn to Him, He would restore them, take curses away from them, and punish any nation that stands as an enemy to them. The Israelites would not only live in safety but also in prosperity. God was not just interested in the Israelitesβ confession of the covenant. He wanted them to obey it.
Confession alone is not enough when it comes to Godβs instructions; your words must be backed with necessary actions. You cannot do whatever you like even after you have given your life to Jesus Christ because Christ has become your new Master and you must live to please Him. How many times have you denied Jesus through your actions, though you confess that you belong to Him? How many times has He spoken to you but you refused to obey? Let your actions match your confession.
*Wisdom:* Your lifestyle must support your confession.
*Food for Thought:* How many times have you acted contrary to your confession?
*Follow-up Action:* Identify where your actions have been contrary to your confession. and make necessary correction.
*Prayer:* O Lord. give me strength to wholeheartedly obey You.
Father. I pray that no one will take my place on the day of my glory.
*Prayer for these ordained ministers and members of their churches:*
