Pat Palau wrote me recently, I read somewhere recently that the average lifespan of an evangelist is 10 years. Can you believe that? It's no surprise, thinking back to some of the challenges we faced. You name it, we experienced it.
After 60+ years of doing the work of an Evangelist long with her husband of blessed memory, Luis Palau, every Evangelist can learn from her. I met Luis and Pat Palau with their son Kevin at Amsterdam 2000. That meeting has brought me close to many Evangelists in the Global Network of Evangelists founded by Dr. Luis Palau.
I am so grateful to God for the inspiring mentorship legendary Evangelists like Archbishop Benson Idahosa, Dr. Billy Graham, Dr. Tommy Lee Osborn and Dr, Luis Palau brought to my life as an Evangelist from a third world country as it were where the life span of an Evangelist is probably ten years. They are all in the clouds now cheering me on to the finish line.
As an Evangelist from the backside of the world with no mentor when I began in 1984, God has helped me these past forty years. Like Pat wrote, I have experienced some of the challenges anyone can face and I have survived without succumbing to all the distractions. No doubt, I have failed, fallen and fumbled too many times to count. Those are actually my medals for today. I am excited about doing the work of an Evangelist.
