A General Has Gone Home: Tribute to Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai (1945–2025, Aged 80)
So, it is true that my Apostle of Faith is gone. On October 6, 2025, the heavens changed as the voice that commanded spiritual forces departed. He called his Heavenly Father “The Awesomely Awesome God” and said “Dear God.” By prayer and faith, the wind of revival blew mightily, stirring hearts and igniting faith across many lands.
He stood gallant. As a General of the Gospel, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai carried the mantle of missions with courage and conviction. He braved opposition and trained ministers for the harvest field. His life was a sermon—his obedience louder than any pulpit, his compassion deeper than words, and his faith unshakable.
Though the mortal frame rests, the fire he kindled still burns. The truths he preached remain etched in hearts; the faith he imparted continues to pulse in many lives. Tears fall, yet hope endures—for he now rests in the glorious presence of the King he served so faithfully.
A mighty General of Faith has completed his assignment and joined the great cloud of witnesses. Some people should not die because their lives transcend time itself—Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai is one of them. His voice cannot be silent on earth; it echoes through testimonies, through generations, and through the ministries he birthed by divine inspiration.
In the quiet of grief, a question rose in my heart: What have I done that Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai should die? What is my offence, dear Lord?
My heart is still bleeding, yet gratitude remains for the gift of such a life that walked among the faithful.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints (Psalm 116:15).
