SUNDAY SERMON
Vessel: Pastor Francis Agboola
Topic: Believe in God
Main Text: 2 Chronicles 20:20 (KJV)
“And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”
INTRODUCTION
Unbelief makes a man unproductive and limits the manifestation of God’s promises in his life. Faith in God establishes, strengthens, and sustains a believer.
Further Reading: Hebrews 6:13–15 (KJV)
“For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.”
LIFESTYLE OF A CHRISTIAN BELIEVER
1. A Christian believer believes in the power of resurrection.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:17 (KJV)
“…even God, who quickeneth the dead…”
A true believer trusts in God’s ability to bring life out of every dead situation.
2. A Christian believer calls into existence things that do not yet exist.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:17 (KJV)
“…and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”
Faith speaks positively and aligns with God’s promises even before physical manifestation.
3. A Christian believer believes there is hope even when all hope seems lost.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:18 (KJV)
“Who against hope believed in hope…”
True faith remains steadfast regardless of circumstances.
Key Insight
When your faith is weak, everything around you becomes weak, and vice versa.
Further Reading: Romans 10:8 (KJV)
“But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach.”
Note
The major difference between a scientist and a Christian is faith. While science depends on proven facts, Christianity depends on faith in God and His Word.
4. A Christian believer is not weak in faith.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:19 (KJV)
“And being not weak in faith…”
Faith gives strength to endure and remain confident in God’s promises.
5. A Christian believer does not consider his body dead.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:19 (KJV)
“…he considered not his own body now dead…”
No condition is beyond God’s power to restore.
Key Insight
God has a replacement for every damaged or failing part of the body.
6. A Christian believer does not accept barrenness or impossibility.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:19 (KJV)
“…neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb.”
Just as Sarah received the promise, believers trust God for fruitfulness and divine intervention.
7. A Christian believer does not stagger at the promises of God through unbelief.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:20 (KJV)
“He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief…”
A believer remains steadfast and unwavering despite delays or challenges.
8. A Christian believer is strong in faith.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:20 (KJV)
“…but was strong in faith…”
Strong faith produces confidence, endurance, and victory.
9. A Christian believer glorifies God continually.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:20 (KJV)
“…giving glory to God.”
Faith grows stronger when a believer chooses thanksgiving and praise.
Key Insight
Until you move beyond constant prayer requests and begin to genuinely glorify God, you may not operate in certain levels of faith.
10. A Christian believer is fully convinced that God will fulfill His promises.
Scriptural Reference: Romans 4:21 (KJV)
“And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”
True faith is complete confidence in God’s ability and faithfulness.
Conclusion
A Christian believer lives by faith and not by sight. Faith in God produces strength, hope, confidence, and victory over every circumstance.
Now, do you truly believe in God?
