THE COST OF CARRYING GOD'S PRESENCE 1
God's presence is a privilege, but it's not casual.

There is a huge difference between having access to God's presence and becoming a vessel that can carry His presence.

Many people desire the manifestation of His presence, but not everyone understands the responsibility that comes with carrying what they are asking God to bring upon their lives.

The presence of God brings privilege, but it also demands consecration, sensitivity, obedience, and discipline.

You cannot consistently carry something holy and remain careless with your life.

One of the people whose story reveals this is Obed-edom.

When the ark of God was being taken to Jerusalem, Uzzah reached out to steady it when the oxen stumbled, and he died. David became afraid and asked, “How shall the ark of the LORD come to me?” 2 Samuel: 6:1-9

So the ark was taken into the house of Obed-edom.
And something happened.
The Bible says,
“And the LORD blessed Obed-edom, and all his household.” — 2 Samuel 6:11

Obed-edom was not the king.
He was not the prophet standing before Israel.
He was simply the man whose house became a dwelling place for the ark.

When God's presence entered his house, his environment could not remain the same.
The presence brought blessing.
Let's also notice something else.
Obed-edom did not treat the ark as an ordinary object.

He understood the weight of what had entered his house.
And when David eventually came to carry the ark away, Scripture tells us something remarkable:

“And David brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom into the city of David with gladness.” verse 12

Obed-edom did not hold on to the presence because of the blessing it brought him.
He served around it.
He lived with it.
He honoured it.

And his life became so associated with the ark that Scripture later records that Obed-edom and his sons were appointed as porters for the ark.

He did not merely experience God's presence.
He developed a relationship with the responsibility of God's presence.

Sometimes we want the blessing that comes from God's presence without wanting the discipline required to host it.

We want the glory, but not the consecration.
We want the manifestation, but not the obedience.
We want the atmosphere, but not the altar.
We want God to move through us, but we do not want God to govern us.

The presence of God is not a decoration, it is a government.

When God comes into a man's life, He does not come merely to make the man feel good.

He comes to take His place.
He comes to govern.

THE PLACE OF PREPARATION 3 : The Shepherd Before The King

Let's look at David.

Before David became king over Israel, he was a shepherd.

He was in the field taking care of sheep. It did not look like royalty. It did not look like a throne. It did not look like the palace.

But do you know what?
God was preparing a king in the field.

David was not sitting on a throne yet, but he was already learning how to protect what had been entrusted to him. When a lion came and took a sheep from the flock, David did not run away.

He pursued the lion.
He struck it.
He rescued the sheep from its mouth.
And when the lion rose against him, David seized it by its beard and killed it.

David later told Saul: 1 Samuel 17:36

“Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear.”

Think about it.

The shepherd was fighting lions before the king was fighting battles.
The field was his training ground.
The sheep were his first responsibility.
The lion was one of his first battles.
And the victory over the lion was preparing him for Goliath.

David did not suddenly become courageous when he stood before Goliath, courage had already been developed in the secret place. What looked like an ordinary shepherding job was actually a school of leadership.

The lion was part of the process.
The bear was part of the process.
The wilderness was part of the process.
The loneliness was part of the process.
The responsibilities were part of the process.
The battles were part of the process.
And eventually, the process brought him to the throne.

This is why you must be careful not to despise your present season. You may be looking at your life and saying, “Why am I still here? Why am I doing this small thing? Why does nobody see me?”

But perhaps God is saying: “I am training you.”

David was not wasting time in the field.
David was becoming.
The shepherd was becoming a king.
The man who was protecting sheep was being prepared to protect a nation.
The man who could confront a lion was being prepared to confront Goliath.
The man who was faithful with a few sheep was being prepared to lead God's people.

So don't despise your process. Your process may not look like your promise, but it is preparing you for your promise. The shepherd came before the king.

And that is the principle:

Before the throne, there is a field.
Before the palace, there is preparation.
Before the public manifestation, there is a private process.
Before the crown, there is training.

So wherever you are today, don't waste it.
If you are in the field, be the best shepherd you can be.
If you are serving, serve well.
If you are learning, learn well.
If you are working a small job, work with excellence.
If you are hidden, allow God to build you in the hidden place.

Because the place you are calling “small” may be the place God is using to prepare you for something “great.”

Don't despise the shepherd season.
Process is not punishment.
Process is preparation.

God wants to make a great nation out of you!

THE CALL

It is not only knowledge that is power; it is applied knowledge that is power.

There are people who know so much, yet their lives remain unchanged because knowledge that is not applied has not yet produced transformation.

The Word of God was not given to us merely to increase our knowledge, but to transform our lives.

James 1:22 says, But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

There is a dimension of Christianity where we keep hearing, learning, studying and gathering revelation, but we never come into the place of practice.

And God is calling us beyond that.

Practice what you preach.

What you have learnt must become what you live. What you teach others must first become a reality in you. The Word must move from your mouth into your life.

Hebrews 5:14 speaks of those who have their senses exercised by reason of use to discern both good and evil. Spiritual maturity is not only what you know; it is what you have consistently practiced.

And do not underestimate your weakness.

Your weakness is real, but your weakness is not greater than the strength that God has placed within you.

The fact that you have a weakness does not mean you have been defeated by it.

There are areas where you are still growing. There are things you are still learning to overcome. There are places where your flesh still fights against your spirit. But never allow the awareness of your weakness to make you forget the strength of the One who lives in you.

2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us that God's grace is sufficient and that His strength is made perfect in weakness.

Therefore, don't hide your weakness; bring it before God.

Don't make peace with your weakness, but don't be intimidated by it either.

Grow. Exercise yourself. Practice the Word. Keep yielding to the Spirit.

There is a depth God is calling us into.

Jesus is calling us into depth in Him.

Not just knowing about Him, but knowing Him.

Not just hearing His Word, but becoming doers of His Word.

Not just speaking about intimacy with God, but walking in intimacy with Him.

Not just receiving revelation, but becoming the expression of the revelation we have received.

Proverbs 24:3–4 shows us that wisdom, understanding and knowledge are meant to produce something; they build, establish and fill.

So the question is not only:

What do you know?

The deeper question is:

What has what you know produced in you?

Jesus is calling us deeper.

Deeper in obedience.
Deeper in consecration.
Deeper in the Word.
Deeper in prayer.
Deeper in character.
Deeper in intimacy with Him.

Because there is a depth in God that cannot be accessed by knowledge alone.

We must become what we have learnt.

We must practice what we preach.

We must walk in the light of the revelation we have received.

And as we keep yielding ourselves to Him, the Spirit begins to take us from knowing about Christ to knowing Christ, from hearing to doing, and from spiritual infancy into maturity.

Jesus is calling us into depth in Him.

INVESTMENT POLICY 2

When we speak about investment, many minds immediately turn to money, businesses, and material resources. However, there is an investment that is far more enduring more eternal; a spiritual investment.

Everything genuinely sown in the Spirit will eventually become visible in the physical. The unseen always gives birth to the seen. Before God manifests anything outwardly, He first establishes it inwardly.
Genesis 26:12 (KJV)
"Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him."

Although Isaac sowed physical seed, the principle remains true: every God-ordained seed produces a harvest. In the kingdom, spiritual seeds; prayer, obedience, the Word, discipleship, service, sacrifice, and faithfulness, never return empty. They may not produce immediately, but they will surely produce.

Many believers desire visible manifestations without first making invisible investments. Yet God's pattern has always been investment before manifestation, process before performance, and preparation before promotion.

Consider the life of Jesus Christ. Before His death, resurrection, and the rapid spread of the gospel, He invested Himself into men. For approximately three and a half years, Jesus intentionally taught, corrected, rebuked, encouraged, prayed for, and walked closely with His disciples. He was not merely gathering followers; He was building vessels.

Even in His final days on earth, His concern was still investment. After His resurrection, He continued appearing to His disciples over a period of forty days, proving Himself alive and speaking to them about the things concerning the Kingdom of God (Acts 1:3). He understood that what would sustain the Church was not merely miracles but men who had been deeply invested in.

INVESTMENT POLICY

One of the greatest proofs of wisdom is the ability to preserve today for the sake of tomorrow. Nothing that God intends to last is built on wastefulness. Heaven operates by preparation long before manifestation.

The reason we invest is because tomorrow is real. The future is not prepared for when it arrives; it is prepared for long before it comes. Every glorious future is the product of present obedience.

Joseph understood this mystery. By divine revelation, he saw a famine before it came. Because he had insight into tomorrow, he invested in today. During the years of abundance, he preserved a fifth of the harvest, knowing that what was available in one season would become the answer in another. The preservation of Egypt was not a miracle that happened in the days of famine; it was an investment made in the days of plenty.

Noah also invested for a future no one else believed in. Before there was a flood, there was an ark. While men laughed, Noah kept building because faith always prepares for what natural eyes cannot yet see. The future belongs to those who respond to God's voice before circumstances demand it.

After Jesus fed the multitude, He commanded His disciples to gather the fragments that remained so that nothing would be lost. The God who multiplied bread also instructed that the leftovers be preserved. Divine abundance is never an excuse for spiritual carelessness. Heaven multiplies, but heaven also preserves.

In the parable of the talents, the servants who increased what was committed into their hands were commended, while the one who buried his portion was judged. Whatever God places in your hand is not meant to remain the same. Stewardship is measured by increase.

The Kingdom does not reward waste; it rewards stewardship. God entrusts more to those who have learned to preserve what they already have.

Spiritually, investment is beyond money. Every prayer is an investment. Every time spent in God's presence is an investment. Every encounter with the Holy Spirit is an investment. Every sacrifice, every act of obedience, every seed of the Word hidden in your heart is a preparation for a future manifestation.

Men suddenly rise because they secretly invested. Great manifestations are the harvest of hidden investments.

If there will be a glorious tomorrow, there must first be intentional investment today.

Diligence, faithfulness, and stewardship are the pathways through which God births lasting fruitfulness.
