WE WON’T ASSUME YOU KNOW HIM
We won’t assume you know Him…
Those were the words he said to me.
A few moments ago, two young men walked up to me, smiled, and asked for a few minutes of my time. I welcomed them and gave them my attention.
While we spoke, one of them asked me a question:
“Who is Jesus to you?”
I calmly and confidently responded,
“Jesus is my Lord and personal Saviour.”
“Wow,” he said. “I love that.”
But then he added something that stayed with me:
“We don’t want to assume you know Him… because it goes beyond superficial knowledge to experiential knowledge.”
That hit differently.
Here’s why I’m sharing this…
It is risky to live on assumptions in a walk that is not truly in existence.
It is dangerous to fake a life you do not genuinely have.
Going to church does not mean you know Jesus.
Saying the sinner’s prayer does not automatically mean He lives in you.
It has to be intentional.
When he asked me that question, it honestly sounded strange at first.
I was almost tempted to respond from a place of identity , to say, “I am an evangelist too.”
But I restrained myself.
I listened.
And when I said, “Jesus is my Lord and personal Saviour,”
my own words pierced my heart.
The meaning of that statement came alive again in my spirit.
The fact that Jesus came for everyone does not mean everyone has received Him.
The fact that He died for all does not mean all have accepted Him.
No.
Jesus is different things to different people.
To some, He is a healer.
To some, a deliverer.
To some, a Saviour.
But the greatest thing that can happen to any man is the revelation of who Jesus is to them personally.
Because it doesn’t matter who you have met in life…
If you haven’t met Jesus, you are still lost.
For me, Jesus is my Lord and my personal Saviour.
That means He is the Governor of my life.
The One who directs my path.
The One I look at daily (Hebrews 12:2).
As my personal Saviour, everything about my life flows from my encounter with Him.
I no longer live for myself.
The life I have now is a result of the life He gave me.
Yes, many people may have answered an altar call the same day I did…
But what happened to me was personal.
My encounter is personal.
My transformation is personal.
My walk is personal.
So I cannot measure my life by others.
I cannot build my convictions on people’s opinions.
My walk with God is built on:
His instructions to me.
His truth in His Word.
And the convictions He has formed in my heart.
Not what people feel I should do.
Not what emotions try to suggest.
This walk is real. Or it is nothing.
So I will ask you again…
Do you truly know Him?
Or have you just heard about Him?
Because we won’t assume you know Him.
Let us pray🙏
