COMMUNICATION MINISTRY MUST LEAD THE GOSPEL MANDATE- PASTOR IROULOR
The President of the Port Harcourt East Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Samuel E. Iroulor, has challenged church communicators to become more active, visible, and strategic in spreading the gospel through both traditional and digital media platforms.
Speaking during the first General Meeting of the Conference Communication Ministries in the new quinquennium, held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the Conference Headquarters in Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, he described communication ministry as a vital force in modern evangelism.
In his special remark from Isaiah 52:7, the clergy reminded members that God expects Christians to spread good news, hope, and messages that can positively change lives. He said communication ministry should not only focus on church announcements but should also become a channel for encouraging people and bringing them closer to God. He explained that the mission now includes the digital world, where millions of people spend their time daily.
“The world is already filled with too much bad news. As communicators, we must become carriers of hope, faith, and good tidings. Today, the world is online. If the people are on social media, then the church must also be there preaching Christ,” he stated.
Addressing communication secretaries, media team members, and church representatives gathered from different districts and zones across the conference, the Conference president encouraged members to use every available opportunity and platform to share the gospel effectively, stressing that evangelism is no longer limited to preaching from the pulpit alone.
According to him, platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube, and other digital media spaces have become powerful tools for evangelism, outreach, and church communication.
Pastor Iroulor also challenged communication secretaries to become active storytellers of the church’s mission and impact, he encouraged them to become more creative, productive, and intentional in the way they report church activities and engage audiences online.
“Communication is not stagnant. You must keep learning, growing, and improving your skills if you want to remain effective. Unlock the key to effective communication. Tell the stories of what God is doing in the church. Let people see the impact of the gospel through your reports, videos, pictures, and messages,” he advised..
During the handover ceremony of the outgoing Associates, the president expressed joy at the level of attendance and participation witnessed across different age categories. He described it as a positive sign for the future of the church. And further commended the Communication Director and the entire ministry team who piloted the affairs of the department for the last two years.
He also called for stronger teamwork among communication personnel and urged members to continue learning and improving themselves daily.
“Seeing young people, adults, and experienced members all actively involved in communication ministry gives us hope that the church has a strong and sustainable future”.
“I appreciate the director and all his Associates for the effort and strength being invested in making this ministry effective. Communication remains one of the strongest instruments for soul-winning in our generation,” he added.
The event attracted more than 90 communication secretaries, team members and media personnel, in the conference.
