A Tribute of Honour and Gratitude
Celebrating a Pillar of Humanity and Culture
On behalf of myself, Ifamuyiwa Akinwumi Awoniran
Chairman, Famuyiwa Global Investment Limited
President, Omo Yoruba Ni Wa Nigeria
—and on behalf of my wives and children, I write with deep pride, reverence, and affection to celebrate our father, mentor, and beacon of humanity, Oluawo Ifaniyi Ayinla Omoyeni Awoniran, the revered Oluawo Ilu Ìṣèkẹ, on his well-deserved conferment as Isese Man of the Year 2025, graciously organised by the Isese Welfare Association (Isese Assembly).

This prestigious honour is not only timely but profoundly deserved. It stands as a public affirmation of a lifetime devoted to service, cultural preservation, spiritual leadership, and unwavering commitment to humanity. Daddy, your life has been a living testament to the values of hospitality, compassion, wisdom, and selfless kindness.

These virtues have endeared you to many and have made your name synonymous with integrity and service within and beyond our community.
There is no doubt that the merit of this award is rooted in your open heart and open doors—doors that have welcomed the needy, guided the confused, uplifted the weak, and inspired countless souls. You have consistently shown that true leadership is not about titles, but about impact; not about power, but about purpose.
Your existence has been a bedrock for millions of lives—first to your family, then to your community, and to all of us who are privileged to be called your children. Through your teachings, counsel, and exemplary lifestyle, you have shaped destinies and strengthened faith in the enduring values of Ìṣẹ̀ṣe and Yoruba cultural heritage.
As a son, I am profoundly grateful. As a family, we are immensely proud.

Congratulations, Daddy, on this remarkable achievement. May the Almighty grant you long life, sound health, renewed strength, and greater honours ahead. More wins, more grace, and more celebrations.

Public Announcement and Clarification on the Recent Social Media Video Concerning Oro Activities

The attention of the custodians and practitioners of the Isese tradition has been drawn to a circulating video on social media purporting to show Oro activities in broad daylight within Oyo Alaafin. We hereby make the following clarifications to set the records straight:
1. The video does not depict the real sacred Oro rituals. According to longstanding Yoruba tradition, Oro is a revered and sacred institution that never takes place in the daytime and is not meant for public display, especially not through media platforms. The scenes shown in the video are not Oro in its true spiritual form, but rather ceremonial displays marking the grand finale of the Oro Festival.
2. Contrary to false narratives, the activities captured in the video are not harmful or spiritually consequential to any member of the public, especially women. These final rites are symbolic and celebratory in nature and do not invoke the sacred presence of Oro that traditional rules restrict.
3. We wish to stress that those who recorded and circulated this video are not practitioners of the Isese religion. On the contrary, many of them are from other religious backgrounds whose intentions are to tarnish and misrepresent Yoruba culture and traditions. Their actions are both misleading and disrespectful to the sanctity of our heritage.
We call on the general public to disregard the misinformation attached to this video and to always seek guidance from authentic cultural custodians before drawing conclusions about our sacred practices. The Oro Festival remains a deeply spiritual and cultural tradition, observed with the highest levels of discipline, secrecy, and respect for the land and its people.
Let us all work together to preserve the dignity of Yoruba culture and not allow outsiders or misinformed individuals to define or desecrate what is sacred to us.

Sacrifice is a common phenomenon in the African indigenous religions, cultural practices as well as in the dominant – conventional religions. It constitutes an important part of worship, prayers and thanksgiving.
