DATE: THURSDAY, 25TH. DECEMBER, 2025.

TOPIC: THE ESSENCE OF CHRISTMAS.

SCRIPTURE: For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God,…. LUKE 2:11-14.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Son of God became the Son of man, so that sons of men can become sons of God.

Today is a remarkable day in the history of Christianity. It is a day set aside worldwide to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

The birth of Christ remains the most celebrated event in human history. It is observed and honoured by both Christians and non-Christians.

Now, celebrating the birthday of a mortal man is already a significant occasion, how much more then is the celebration of the birth of the King of kings and Lord of lords!

Today, there are non-Christian nations that do even more elaborate Christmas celebrations than some traditional Christian nations. You see entire communities transformed in appearance and activities.

The challenge, however, is that many do not grasp the true reason behind the celebration of Christmas. They don’t understand why there is so much joy. In fact, the birth of the sinless Son of God is marked by some of the most terrible sins or evils – drunkenness, alcoholism, immorality and all manner of vices. All this happens because many people don’t truly know what they are celebrating.

So, what is the birth of Christ all about?

1. It is the celebration of the heaven invading the earth.

2. It is the celebration of immortality invading mortality. That is, the One who cannot die chose to take the place of the one who could die.

3. It is the celebration of invisibility entering the realm of visibility. The God we once could not see became the God we can see through Jesus Christ.

4. It is the celebration of divinity entering humanity; the celebration of God becoming man. Christmas is the celebration of the season where the Son of God became the Son of man. The Son of God became the Son of man, so that sons of men can become sons of God. Jesus Christ came from the celestial realm into the terrestrial realm. He is the junction between the celestial and the terrestrial junction. He is the divino-humanity junction. That is the junction where divinity meets humanity. In Jesus, you see God, and in Him, you also see man.

Beloved, it is very exciting to note that Jesus is a perfect junction of all possibilities. That is, a perfect junction where what was only possible with God now becomes possible with man.

What is the implication of His birth?
It was the birth of God's gift. When Christ was born, it was not merely the birth of a person, but the birth of a gift, the gift of God to mankind. As stated in John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son… This was the giving of God’s only begotten Son as a divine gift from God to humanity.

This is the true essence of the celebration of Christmas. Beloved, as you celebrate this Christmas with the correct mindset, may you access the fullness of all that is yours in Christ, in Jesus’ Name.

*GO FOR A PERSONAL END-OF-YEAR RETREAT*

It is dangerous to end or begin seasons of life in the flesh. You need God.

The most critical moments in a person’s life are season transitions—when one season is ending and another is beginning. These are moments when many fall, because the enemy often exploits spiritual carelessness at such times.

Before Koinonia resumes, intentionally set aside a few days for a personal retreat. A retreat is a season of being exclusively alone with God.

Not with your spouse.
Not with your church.
Alone.

There are dimensions of truth God will never reveal in public gatherings. Certain instructions, corrections, and directions are only released in the place of solitude. This mystery is a key to sustained victory.

A few hours is not a retreat.
At minimum, spend two solid days with God.

One day can be dedicated solely to thanksgiving.

*WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN DURING A RETREAT?*

1. THANKSGIVING

Deliberately count your blessings.
Do not offer vague or general gratitude—mention specific things one by one.

God never grows weary of sincere thanksgiving. Take time to reflect on the year and offer Him quality gratitude.

2. REVIEW YOUR PROGRESS FOR THE YEAR (2025)

Conduct an honest, unashamed, and sincere review of your life. Break this review into six key areas:

(a) SPIRITUAL LIFE & CHARACTER

Are you growing in prayer, the Word, and intimacy with God?

What has truly changed about your character this year?

(b) MENTAL DEVELOPMENT & CAPACITY

How have you stretched and developed your mind?

What new knowledge, skills, or wisdom have you gained?

(c) HEALTH

How well have you stewarded your physical body?

Have you been careless or intentional about your health?

(d) ASSIGNMENT / KINGDOM SERVICE

Have you made measurable progress in your calling and service to God?

Were you consistent, committed, and fruitful?

(e) FINANCES

Did you apply kingdom principles to improve your finances?

How did you manage resources this year?

What mistakes must be corrected going forward?

(f) RELATIONSHIPS

What kinds of associations did you keep?

What is the state of your marriage or closest relationships?

Whose presence hindered your progress?

Whose absence negatively affected you?

You must not come out of your retreat the same way you entered.

Review your life honestly. Align with God’s help. Make adjustments where necessary, and step into the new season with clarity, strength, and direction.

What fasting is not?

Fasting is not a religious weapon for seasonal observation; it is not punishing yourself until God is forced to hear you or attempting to change God’s position about any issue of concern.

What is Fasting?

- Fasting is abstinence from food or pleasure for a period of time to establish God’s plan and purpose for your life.

- Fasting is a proven tool for the operation and manifestation of the supernatural. Fasting aligns with God's purpose and intentions. - Isa. 58:6

- Fasting amplifies and intensifies desperation and desire towards God for needed intervention. - Joel 3:13, Esther 4:17

- Fasting is subduing the flesh for the dominance of your spirit man.

- Fasting expresses human helplessness and humility of the soul in securing the help of God. - 2 Chr. 20:3-4
Examples of Those Who Commanded Supernatural Through Fasting

Kindly take note of the following things about fasting:

1. You don’t fast to impress God or people and you don’t fast to boast or brag. - Matt 6: 16-18

4. You don't fast without active engagement in prayer and a study of the Word. - Acts 6:4When Should You Fast?

3. When your faith, your life or the lives of those you love are challenged. - Esther 4:16

To fully maximise your fasting season:

1. Define the objective of your fast.

4. Maintain minimal distractions. - Gen. 32:24

5. Listen and be on the lookout for instructions. - Isa. 58:8

6. Avoid talking too much, especially when you are fasting. - Luke 10:11

Take full responsibility for the outcome of your life.

You are worth much more than you ever think. What you need is your eyes to be opened to see it.
Awake to your responsibility and awake to train up.

Your worth is enhanced through commitment to self-training.

What is Unique About Training?

It is teaching and practice; learning and exercising. Not just learning, but putting things into practice.
