HAPPY 169TH CMS ANNIVERSARY!
Celebrating the Planting of the Gospel Seed in Igboland (1857–2026)

With hearts full of gratitude to God, the Anglican Diocese of Owerri, Orji Archdeaconry, Anglican Youth Fellowship joyfully celebrates the 169th CMS Anniversary, commemorating the historic planting of the Gospel seed in Igboland in 1857.

For 169 years, the light of Christ has continued to shine through faithful missionaries, devoted clergy, committed church workers, and generations of believers whose lives have transformed communities and advanced God’s Kingdom.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we are reminded of our responsibility to uphold the faith, proclaim the Gospel, and remain steadfast in our Christian calling. As youths, we are challenged to live exemplary lives, serve with humility, and continue building a stronger Church for generations to come.

May this anniversary inspire us to deepen our commitment to Christ, strengthen our unity, and renew our passion for evangelism and discipleship.

St. Stephen's AYF vs St. Paul's Chapel AYF Saturday, 11th July 2026 | 3:30 p.m. | Orji Primary School Field
The final group-stage fixture of the tournament may carry little significance on paper, but it still offers an opportunity for pride, experimentation, and perhaps a glimpse into the future.
St. Stephen's AYF come into this encounter as the tournament's most consistent side. Unbeaten throughout the competition, they have already secured their place in the grand finale and remain one of the favourites to lift the trophy. Their disciplined performances, attacking efficiency, and defensive solidity have made them the team to beat.
For St. Paul's Chapel AYF, the campaign has been a difficult one. Having lost both of their matches so far, including a heavy 6–1 defeat in one of the fixtures, they find themselves at the foot of the standings. With qualification hopes long gone, this match presents one final chance to restore pride and end their tournament on a positive note.
From a competitive standpoint, the fixture can best be described as a dead-rubber encounter. Whatever the outcome, it will have no bearing on the final standings or qualification picture. St. Stephen's have already booked their ticket to the final, while St. Paul's have nothing tangible left to fight for except honour and respect.
Interestingly, St. Stephen's captain has hinted at a major squad rotation for the game. Speaking ahead of the match, he revealed that the coaching crew intends to field a largely second-string side, giving several fringe players an opportunity to showcase their abilities. It will be a test of the squad's depth and a chance for the reserve players to prove they can fill the boots of the regular starters.
The question remains: can the second eleven maintain the high standards set by the first team? Or will St. Paul's seize the opportunity to cause an upset and end their campaign with a memorable result?
While there may be little at stake in terms of qualification, football often produces surprises when expectations are low. Pride, reputation, and the desire to impress will still ensure that both teams step onto the pitch with something to prove.
