ETERNAL TRANSITION OF ROYAL SAGE AS HRH EZE DR. EMMANUEL OKERE PASSES ON
NGOR OKPALA, IMO STATE – The Ohekelem Autonomous Community in Ngor Okpala Local Government Area has been thrown into mourning following the passage of its traditional ruler, HRH Eze (Dr.) Emmanuel Okere, JP (Ekelem I of Ohekelem Autonomous Community).
According to a statement issued by the family, the revered monarch passed on after a distinguished reign marked by peace, stability, and community development.
Until his transition, HRH Eze Dr. Emmanuel Okere reigned on the throne of Ohekelem Autonomous Community, for 22 years, during which he was widely respected for his charisma, wisdom, and dignified leadership. He was regarded as a symbol of royal honour whose stewardship brought lasting territorial stability and strengthened unity among his people.
The late monarch was also noted for his philanthropic disposition and commitment to peaceful coexistence. His reign fostered harmony, strengthened traditional institutions, and encouraged a deep sense of communal and spiritual values within Ohekelem.
The family statement described him as a man of truth, peace, and royal grace whose legacy will remain indelible in the history of the community.
He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family members, among whom is Rev. Chidiebere Iyke Okere of the Anglican Diocese of Egbu, alongside other relations and loved ones.
Burial arrangements, according to the family, will be announced in due course.
Meanwhile, the family has called for prayers, moral support, and solidarity from the public during this period of mourning.
