Dear Lord, thank you for all you have done for me and given me. I ask that you would watch over me and my loved ones. That you would cover us with your protection. Let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. For you bless the righteous, O LORD; you cover him with favor as with a shield. Thank you Lord for hearing my prayer. In Jesus' Holy name, amen.

Text : 2 Sam 12 v 15 - 31.

Theme : UNDERGOING GOD'S DISCIPLINE.

The story in this text is an eye opener to us that God cannot be bribed with prayer and fasting to change His mind after His verdict.

As you embarked on lengthy fasting and prayers, make sure you are not trying to reverse the verdict of God, for heaven and earth shall pass away but no iota of His word will passed without fulfilling His purpose.

You can see that it is not how long we fast and pray that matters but our ability to accept His will.

So, stop that long fasting and prayers and accept the will of God now for your marriage, business pursuit, health and safety.

God forgave David of his sins but His verdict is that this child that caused the death of Uriah the husband of Bathsheba must die.

Be careful not to cause the death of someone because the wound may heal but the scares lives with you.

David did well to rise from his fasting as soon as the child died, an example for any bereaved one to know that no amount of mourning will bring back the dead, so let your mourning have a limit, rise and be comforted and encouraged to take up the responsibility bestowed on you and get prepared for your own death because one day you must surely die.

All of us are bound to leave the earth one day but prepare your way and ensure you complete your assignment well before departing from the earth.

Can you beat God's wisdom and discipline? He flogged David with the right hand by making him test a bit of sorrow for his sins but brought him closer like a good Father with His left hand by giving him another son Solomon through the same woman who later took over the throne of Israel and became the wisest man on earth and the most successful king ever lived.

Can you question God who knows the end from the beginning?

He also led David to have victories over his enemies as he fought Ammonites and beat them and subdue them to serve him.

Text : 2 Sam 10 v 1 - 19.

Theme : A SOURED RELATIONSHIP.

An Igbo adage says, IHE OMAM EGBULAM, ONYE NMERE IHE OMA, NKPUNKPU AZU APULA YA, meaning, Let my good deed or kindness to someone not kill me and whoever I have shown kindness, may he not suffer a hunch back

David's kindness to Hanun king of Ammon to commiserate with him on the death of his father Nahash who had good relationship with him while he was alive would have killed him but for God's help .

He had sent his ambassadors with a condolence message to Hanun who had taken over the kingdom prior to the death of his father but his advisers misconstrue David's aim for the visit and treated his visitors with contempt and shamed them beyond measure.

How do you treat your visitors and foreigners around you and your community?

Some people, especially those "home limited", who have not travelled out before do not have respect for strangers in the land and can maltreat them anyhow they like, forgetting that everyone is a stranger in the world.

When the news of the bad treatment filtered into the ear of David, he advised his ambassadors to remain in Jericho until their half cut beard grow.

One of the problems we have in the world today is good foreign relations.

Some countries do not have good foreign policy that respect the dignity and respect of people of other countries and that is why they treat and kill foreign nationals and easily make their relationship with the victims country sour.

As individuals, do you have good relations with your foreign neighbours or do you treat them with contempt?

As a leader in the family, church and society, what type of counsel do you allow in your administration?

Can they bring peace between you and people or is it such that cause bad relationship?

No one has the monopoly of violence and wars, so, before you take war as an option in any conflict first exhaust all avenue for peaceful resolutions.

Text : 1 John 5 v 13 - 21.

Theme : ASSURANCE OF ETERNAL LIFE.

Everyone entering into any course must know what he/she stands to gain or lose before taking final decision to join or quit.

This John makes clear to us today by assuring us that believing in Jesus Christ has a big gain of eternal life to a believer in Christ.

For those who believed in the devil and worship him their reward is eternal damnation in hell fire.

Presenting these facts to you the reader now helps you to make up your mind whom to believe whether satan and suffer eternity in hell fire or believing in Christ and rejoice eternity in paradise.

John wrote to christians and believers in Christ that they have eternal life by their simple act of faith in Christ so that this confidence will help them to continue the race and endure whatever comes their way and to ask anything they want according to the will of God who hears them.

Brethren, what can be more reassuring and comforting as you are reading this post than that you now know your gains or benefits as a believer in Christ?

I don't know what is your need now, if it is according to the will of God, be rest assured that you will have it in no distant time

I have often told people that in my understanding for the reason no spiritual armour is provided to the back is because we are to protect our brothers and sisters back.

Anyone protecting his brother or sister's back should not backbite him or her.

Therefore, although anyone that has the seed of God in him does not sin willfully but if paraventure your brother or sister falls into sin, you have a responsibility to restore him/her without backbiting him/her.

Sin unto death could be persistent sinning without repentance, sinning against the Holy Spirit or one that God has passed His judgement that has no reversal of appeal.

Text : 1 John 5 v 1 - 12.

Theme: OVERCOMING THE WORLD.

One problem we have today is that true believers are rarely found and that is why it is difficult to detect those truly born of God .
An Igbo adage says that all lizards are crawling with their belly, no one knows which one is having stomach upset.

Many have learned christian terminologies and use them to confuse the church and mix up with genuine believers and it becomes difficult to differentiate between true and fake believers.

Anyone that believes that Jesus Christ is Christ is born of God and everyone that loves God loves His Son Jesus Christ.

We cannot claim to love God if we do not obey His word.

A true child of God must obey the word of God because the word of God is not too hard, grievous nor burdensome to obey.

Those who are born of God (born again) overcomes the world through exercising their faith in Christ.

Are you really born again?
No one believes in Christ with his lips rather with the heart.

What this means is that you must belong to Christ by believing in Him to ensure your victory over sin and the world because Christ has already overcome the world .

Jesus Christ came with water and the Blood for the remission of sins and the Holy Spirit has already testified that this is true.

God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit bear witness in heaven that you are a true child of God and their witness is true and more solid than man's witness.

I ask you a question, has this three bore witness of your salvation?

God's testimony is that God has given us eternal life and this eternal life is in Jesus Christ, and not in any other person or spirit.

Those who believe in Christ have already been given this eternal life but those who refused to believe in Christ will not be given eternal life rather the wrath of God will be upon them.

Do you have Christ in you?

Remember, going to church and fellowship and working for God would not give you eternal life.

Text : 1 John 4 v 7 - 21.

Theme : GOD'S LOVE AND OURS.

The problem with man is that he wants to do things in his own way and not the way of God.

God has demonstrated his love towards mankind by sending His Only Son Jesus Christ to die for us while we were yet sinners and asked us to show the same love to our fellow beings to prove that we love Him also but we refused and decide to make useless sacrifices for Him instead of showing love to our brethren.

How can He accept such sacrifices?

He made it clear to Israel when they were offering such sacrifices of bulls, goats and sheep to Him that He is tired of their sacrifices and that He doesn't want it again and that what He wants is to show love to their fellow beings, ensure justice prevail , visit the widows and orphans and as well take care of the poor and needy and less privileged.

What is the use of the cathedral you are building for God when your brother in the same compound is living in thatched house or is unable to feed, pay his children's school fees or house rent?

All the donations we give to governments and churches to build sky scrapers in the name of God are useless because they have no eternal value if we are unable to meet the needs of our brothers, sisters and neighbours.

God is querying us here, how can you say you love God you are not seeing when you hate your brother you are seeing? You are a liar and do not know God.

If God so loved us we are indebted to love Him too by showing love to people we are seeing.

No one has ever seen God at any time, if we love one another God is in us but if we refuse to love one another God is not in us.

God is love, he that dwells in love dwells in God, for there is no fear in love but perfect love cast out fear.

If you love God, make sure you love your brother too otherwise your love for God is paying a lip service and useless..

*TOPIC:–COME WALK WITH ME.* *Text: Leviticus 26 12*
And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people.”
(Leviticus 26:12)

We’re getting near the end of this book where we see all of these laws and statutes and commands that God gives his people, but don’t miss the point of them. God is giving all these laws, commands, statutes, rules, offerings, sacrifices, so that it would be possible for God in his holiness to walk among his people as their God. All these laws, rules, commandments, statutes make it possible for this people to be God’s people. To know him. To enjoy his presence with them. To experience life in him, and the same, exact thing is true in every one of our lives.
In Christ, we experience joyful communion with God and have been freed to obey Him.
We have laws, commands, rules and God’s word to follow, to obey, but it’s not just for the sake of obedience. It’s not do these things just because. It’s do these things so that you might experience life with God. So that God might walk among you. Hear that phrase in Leviticus 26:12 and I think, “Yes! That’s what I want! God, walk among my life. Walk among my family. Walk among the church that I’m a part of. Oh, God! Please, be a part of every facet of my life. Lead every facet of my life, with your presence, Lord. Envelop my life with your presence.” I pray that in my own life … I encourage you to pray that in your life. Let’s pray, Oh, God! We want you to walk among us. We want the fullness of your presence in every one of our lives. God, I want the fullness of your presence in my life, and my family, and the church that I’m a part of and everything I do. God, I pray for that for everybody that’s listening to this right now, God, that they would experience the joy of communion with you, of walking with you.
God, that’s what we want. This is life. Life is found in you. We want to experience life in you, so help us, we pray, to obey your commands today.
