THE BOYS' BRIGADE, NIGERIA @ 115

On this day "5th September, 1908" The Boys' Brigade was formally established in Nigeria, with the registration of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ebute-Ero, Lagos as the 1st Lagos Company by Mr. (later Revd. Canon) H. Wakeman.

Rev. (later Ven.) T. A. J. Ogunbiyi became the first Chaplain, while Prince Oye Akitoye became the first Captain.

Today being 5th September, 2023 The Boys' Brigade in Nigeria is 115 years.

This is wishing The Boys' Brigade, Nigeria a happy anniversary...

May the labour of our hero's past, never be in vain.

*IMO STATE COUNCIL'S State Training Course IS HERE AGAIN*

The Imo State Council's State Integrated Training Course is an annual program that brings Officers/Boys from the length and breath of the State Council to be adequately equipped.

This year will not be a difference as we have lots of fun filled, educative and competitive programs lined up for the event.

The Training Course is billed to hold on.Tuesday 6th to Sunday 11th September 2022 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Oru Ahiara Mbaise.

You can't afford to miss this because a second person narrative can not be the same as personal experience.

ATTENTION!

Please do You have anyone you know who wasn't able to write the 2022 UTME JAMB due to Fingerprint verification or failed the System and was told to wait for JAMB mop-up exams?

Kindly inform the Student to hurry to any Jamb CBT Center to print the "Mop-Up Examination slip"

The Examination is on Saturday, 6th of August. Most of the students are scheduled for morning paper -writing by 07:00 am.

Please, inform anyone that was affected on the 2022 UTME Exam day.

*THE CAPTAIN OF THE BOYS' BRIGADE.*

The Captain is the Chief Executive officer, the Administrative Head of the Company or perhaps the Chief shepherd of the Boys in the Company. Captainship in the Boys’ Brigade is by appointment, thus Captains are appointed by the Church and its governing body; but when their tenure is due, they step down as a Lieutenant which is the highest rank in the Boys’ Brigade file. Prior to his appointment, a Captain should be a stable young man or a married man who has time freedom and lives within the stipulated Company. The Captain shall give all his heart, soul, mind and strength in his service to the Boys; and endeavour to be in good terms with his fellow Officers and members of Staff.

WHAT IS SUPPOSED OF A CAPTAIN (SOLE DUTIES)
• Shall render selfless services and act as a potential mentor to the Boys.
• Shall call for meeting and ensure the executives and staff are in harmony.
• He supervises, directs and administers the Company.
• Shall organise regular recruitment exercises for Boys (Recruits).
• He shall prompt / attend to all Company and Council meetings.

BOYS DAY 2022

INFORMATION ABOUT THE BOYS' DAY THAT YOU DON'T WISH TO MISS

The BOYS DAY provides an outlet for over 500 Boys in our Brigade Companies cut out of 16 Battalion Councils and The Brigade-in-Schools Formation in the Imo State from all Denominations to gather together to celebrate the Children’s Day and to encourage the spirit of comradeship and allow individual Boy to develop their mental and physique through team games, individual games and activities whilst preparing them with life skills to face challenges ahead in life.

Participation is per Battalion.

Battalion Representatives should include:

*10 Junior Section Boys
*10 Company Section Boys
*5 Seniors
*8 Officers
*Battalion Chairman
*Battalion Secretary
*4 Patrons

EVENTS FOR THE DAY

1.*MARCH PASS* Compulsory for all Battalions

2. *BIBLE RECITATION* Bible Recitation compulsory for all Battalions (For Boys between 8-11 years)
The book of *John chapter One (1)* only. Revised standard version.

3.*SACK RACE.* (For Boys between 12-15 years)

4. *TABLE TENNIS.* (For Boys between 15-18 years)

5.*FILLING THE BOTTLE.* (For Boys between 6-9 years)

6. *DRESS TO THE PRESIDENT*
*1st category* is for (15-18 years) Senior Section Boy with complete uniform.
*2nd category* is for (Boys between 6-11 years) Junior section Boy with complete uniform. Note that the competition involves dressing with brigade uniform and giving salutation to the State President.

7. *EGG AND SPOON RACE* (For Boys between 12-15 years)

8 *VARIETY RELAY RACE.* Relay Race
(For Boys between 8-11)

There will be presentation of prices/ giveaway and light entertainment.

Together we can make it memorable and great.
