This is one among his teachings that reset my brain when my path crossed with his.
Sir...Is it right for someone to make a vow or to enter into a covenant with God?
May be, there's something bothering me, and i entered into a covenant with God by vowing unto Him that, if He does this particular thing for me, i will give Him so and so thing?
Ans...God is not even aware you entered into any covenant with Him. In the new testament, we don't make vows.
The Bible says if a man give according to what he has is acceptable.
You only see vows in the old testament, you won't see any teaching on vows in the new testament.
However, if you have an understanding of how God operate, God does not react or respond, He pro-act.
So, if God has to do something for you because you promised to do something for Him, then, you have entered a transaction with Him, its no more a relationship and God does not transact.
God is your father, He is not your boss or your business partner.
He's a Father, whatever you do for Him, you do it as a son to a Father. And whatever God does for you, He has done it as a Father who is responsible to take care of His Son.
If there's anything you need that is not forth coming, you don't need to cajoled, manipulate or mobilize God as a contractor. You just need to grow in the knowledge of Christ and take delivery of what is yours in Him. Again, there're things that will answer to time even after you have prayed.
Remember, God has already given you all things that pertain to life and godliness.
This's what has been taught in the Church. I taught it some years ago, that you have to give God something. You have to move, activate and mobilize God..No no no no, that's not God at all, that is transaction, that's business.
Me... Religion will always put you under pressure to impress God and to score points with Him. Religion is a rat race you can never win.
