**JDPC Visits Teaching Hospital and the Medium Security Custordian Center (Prison) Otukpo, on the Feast of Presentation of the Lord*
In a heartwarming gesture of kindness and community service, the Justice, Development, and Peace Commission (JDPC) conducted a courtesy visit to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) and the *MSCC* on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. This event marks a time of reflection and generosity, aligning perfectly with the spirit of Lent that is just around the corner.
During the visit to FMC, the JDPC Coordinator and his team paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director Dr Teddy Agida who was delighted and commended the efforts of the Bishop Most Rev. Michael Ekwoyi Apochi through the JDPC. The team proceeded to the Pediatric ward, Post nata ward & labour room where Significant donation aimed at alleviating the financial burdens of patients (children) were offset, allowing them to focus on their recovery without the added stress of medical expenses. The commission expressed its commitment to supporting vulnerable members of the community, emphasizing the importance of compassion in healthcare.
In a further act of goodwill, the JDPC team also visited the *MSCC* where they donated bags of rice to inmates who often face hardships behind bars. Recognizing that many of these individuals are separated from their families and support systems, the JDPC aimed to bring a sense of hope and comfort as they prepare for the Lenten season.
"We believe that no one should feel forgotten or abandoned, especially during times of reflection and renewal," said the Coordinator for the JDPC. "Our visit today is not just about meeting immediate needs but also about fostering a spirit of community and uplifting those who may feel isolated."
The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord serves as a reminder of the values of humility and service, making the JDPC's efforts particularly poignant. As this season of Lent approaches, the commission encourages the inmates to engage in acts of kindness and reflection, fostering a deeper connection to both God and neighbor.
The JDPC plans to continue its outreach efforts throughout Lent, inviting community members to join in their mission of solidarity, support, and service.
