TOPIC: OBEDIENCE – A KEY TO MANIFESTING FAITH

SCRIPTURE: So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. Genesis 12:4.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Faith is obeying God’s Word.

The Scripture makes it clear that as children of God, our survival is anchored on our faith (Galatians 3:11). The just shall live by faith.

This means, if you are a born again Christian and you are justified by the Blood of Jesus Christ, your survival on earth depends on your faith. The quality of your life is anchored on your faith. So, to play with your faith is to jeopardize your life and destiny.

It is important that we understand faith.

What then is faith?
Faith is obeying God’s Word to confirm our trust and confidence in God’s promises to us and His provisions for us.

In Genesis 12:1-4, God gave a word to Abraham and Abraham obeyed God to confirm his trust in God.

Faith is obeying God’s Word. When God told Abraham to depart from his kindred, he obeyed God. That is faith. Abraham obeyed God’s Word to confirm his confidence in the promise God made to him.

When God gave Abraham the promise to make him a blessing, God seemed to have told him, “Before this promise will come to pass, I demand an action of obedience from you. So, get out of your father’s house to a land I will show you and I will make your name great.”

It was possible for Abraham to remain where God spoke to him for another thirty years and be claiming God’s promise of blessing and greatness. He would probably have died there with unfulfilled promises because of disobedience.

My counsel is, make up your mind to obey God’s Word so you can put your faith to work.

REMEMBER THIS: Faith is obeying God’s Word.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Make up your mind to keep your faith alive by the instrumentality of obedience.

2. Refuse to procrastinate or disobey God’s Word to you.

PRAYER: Thank You Lord for showing me obedience as a pathway to manifesting my faith in You. I ask that You help me to obey Your Word, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

TOPIC: THE DIVIDENDS OF GOING FAR WITH GOD

You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

SCRIPTURE: But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

It has been confirmed that there are great benefits for going far with God. You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that the path of the just is as the shining light that shines brighter and brighter unto the perfect day (Proverbs 4:18).

To make progress in life, ensure you make progress with God. You cannot be a success with God and be a failure in life.

For example, when I was in the University as a medical student, I was President of the Medical Students’ Fellowship on my campus. I later became the National President of the Fellowship.

That made me to travel from one university to another preaching to medical students. I remember one of those days, I returned from Calabar and had just 48 hours to write a 2-year Course Examination. So, I sat and began to read from night till morning. When I lifted up my eyes, the sun had risen, yet I had not done enough. Then I prayed like, “Lord, I need Your help. I have done all I can do.”

So, I went to write the examination and misunderstood one question. The question said, “Write the autopsy finding of a man dying of primary liver cell cancer”. Then I wrote that the man had not died, so why do autopsy? I wrote one line as my answer. And that question carried 20 marks and it was also 20% of the total for that Paper. When I realised later, I said, “Lord, you know that I know the answer. You know what I would have written but the fact that I misunderstood the question, Lord, help me write it down what I should have written”.

At the end, the person who marked my script saw me at the Teaching Hospital and congratulated me for excellent performance. I believe God wrote it for me and if God writes an examination for you, you cannot fail.

Beloved, you cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

REMEMBER THIS: You cannot go far with God and lag behind in life.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Make up your mind to go far with God.

2. Take your spirituality seriously.

PRAYER: Lord, I receive the grace to go far with You. Deliver me from being nominal Christianity, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
