Diocesan Board Meets to Chart the Way Forward Post-Retirement 🙏🏽

Today, the Rt. Rev'd Dr. James 'Olusola Odedeji the Supervising Bishop of Awori and Bishop of Lagos West presided over the Diocesan Board meeting at the Cathedral Church of St. James', Ipate Oyinbo, Otta.

This gathering marks the first major Board meeting following the retirement of the Rt. Rev'd Dr. J. Akin Atere and his wife, Mrs. Foluso Atere, which took place last Sunday, 15th February.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Board deliberated on key matters concerning the advancement of God's kingdom and the continued growth of the Diocese. We remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding the legacy of faith while embracing the new season the Lord has ordained for us.

We appreciate the wisdom and leadership of Bishop Odedeji as he steers the affairs of the Diocese in this transitional period.

"I HAVE FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT" A Service of Farewell and Birthday Celebration

At noon today, the Diocese of Awori gathered to celebrate the 70th birthday and retirement of the Rt. Revd. Dr. Johnson Akinwamide Atere.

The service was a profound moment of reflection, as we gave thanks for a ministry that has touched countless lives. The readings, hymns, and prayers all pointed to the faithfulness of a God who calls, equips, and sustains His servants.

As the Bishop Emeritus steps down from active episcopal service, we hold him and his wife, Mrs. Foluso Olukemi Atere, before the throne of grace. May the Lord who has been their guide continue to be their portion.

Today, Sunday February 15th, 2026, a father, father in God and a Church father, the Rt. Rev'd Dr. Johnson Atere the Bishop of Awori Anglican Diocese turns 70 years.

Congratulations to you sir…. We pray that you shall age well with grace in Jesus name, Amen.

As it is custom, both Baba and Mama Awori, Rt. Rev'd Dr. Johnson Atere and Mrs. Foluso Oluwakemi Atere will be retiring from active Church ministry.

May God's presence continue to attend you even in retirement in Jesus' name. Amen.
