IF OKE-OGUN WERE TO SPEAK ABOUT ITS GREATEST TREASURES OF KNOWLEDGE, THE NAME THAT WOULD ECHO WITH HONOR IS SHEIKH ABDUL RAHEEM HAMZAT.
A scholar whose life became a lantern for generations. A man whose chest carried the Qur’an, whose words revived hearts, and whose footsteps guided seekers of knowledge toward the path of truth. Truly, he is among those described as “Warathatul Anbiyaa” — the inheritors of the Prophets.
The Pillar of Knowledge in Oke-Ogun
Titles cannot fully describe him. Calling him the Grand M***i of Oke-Ogun is only a glimpse of his greatness. His influence stretches beyond names and positions.
As a sincere student of Sheikh Adam Al-Ilory (Rahimahullah), he inherited the light of knowledge, discipline, and sacrifice. The flame he received from Markaz did not stop with him; he carried it to Iseyin and spread it until countless homes and hearts became illuminated with Islamic learning.
Teacher of Generations
It is often said that a large number of the scholars in Iseyin today are directly or indirectly connected to him through knowledge and tarbiyah. This is not exaggeration; it is a testimony witnessed by the people.
His Madrasa stands as one of the strongest centers of Islamic learning in Iseyin because he dedicated his life to nurturing students upon Qur’an, Sunnah, and noble character. Every Imam, teacher, khateeb, and student who emerged from his circle continues to add to his scale of rewards.
He transformed ordinary young boys into carriers of wisdom and guidance. Through patience, sincerity, and relentless effort, he planted seeds of knowledge that grew into a forest of scholars and callers to Allah.
An Everlasting Legacy
His impact cannot be hidden, just as the light of the sun cannot be denied. Wherever Islamic knowledge flourishes in Iseyin and beyond, traces of his efforts can be found.
He built minds, purified hearts, and raised a generation that continues to serve Islam with honor. His life remains a lesson in sincerity, sacrifice, humility, and devotion to knowledge.
May Allah elevate his rank among the righteous, bless every letter he taught, and grant him Al-Firdaws Al-A‘la. May his legacy continue to shine through his students and all those who benefit from his knowledge.
Aameen Ya Rabbal ‘Alameen.
