I never imagined that a simple food delivery would destroy my marriage.
If someone had told me two years ago that I would be raising my daughter alone because of one small mistake, I would have laughed at them.
My husband and I were married for five years. We have a beautiful little daughter together.
Our marriage was not perfect, but we loved each other and respected each other. People around us always admired us because we hardly had problems.
Everything changed after my husband got a job in another state. He would stay there for weeks before coming home for a few days.
One afternoon, I ordered food online.
When the delivery rider arrived, I realized my bank app was having issues. I apologized and told him to wait while I sorted it out.
He smiled and said, "No problem, ma. You can send it later."
Later that evening, I transferred the money and even added a little extra to appreciate him.
He thanked me, and after that day, he would sometimes message to ask if I enjoyed the food or greet me whenever he was delivering around my area.
At first, I saw nothing wrong with it.
Sometimes we exchanged a few messages. Sometimes he would stop by for just a few minutes if he was in the neighborhood.
Nothing intimate ever happened between us.
He never entered my house.
He never touched me.
There was never anything romantic between us. The biggest mistake I made was that I never told my husband about the friendship because I knew he would misunderstand it.
Whenever my husband was about to come home, I would delete the chats with the delivery rider.
Not because we were saying anything dirty.
I deleted them because I did not want unnecessary arguments.
Looking back now, that was the biggest mistake of my life.
One evening, my husband came home unexpectedly.
He asked me one question that shocked me.
"Who is this delivery rider that has been visiting you?"
I tried to explain everything.
I told him exactly how we became friends.
He asked to see my phone.
But the chats were gone because I had already deleted them.
To him, deleting the chats was enough proof that I was hiding something.
No matter how much I cried, he refused to believe me.
I begged him.
I knelt dow less
lagoslately_ I knelt down.
I even told him to call the delivery rider so we could both explain everything together.
I told him to take me anywhere.
Any church.I knelt down. I even told him to call the delivery rider so we could both explain everything together. I told him to take me anywhere. Any church,Any pastor,Any mountain, Any shrine Anywhere at all. I said I was ready to swear with my |!,fe that had never cheated on him. I told him my only offense was deleting those messages because I did not want him to misunderstand an innocent friendship.
But he refused He said trust, once broken, can never be the same. A few days later, I found out that one of our neighbors had been telling people that the delivery rider used to visit me whenever my husband traveled. The rumors spread quickly even my husband's family believed them.
Some of my own relatives believed it too.
Nobody wanted to hear my own side of the story.
It has been almost one year now.
I have not seen my husband once.
If I send him a message, he does not reply.
If I call, he rarely picks up.
The only thing he asks about is our daughter.
He still sends money for her upkeep, and I appreciate him for that.
But as for us... He has completely shut me out.
I have cried.
I have begged.
I have apologized for deleting those chats even though I know in my heart that I never slept with that man or had any affair with him.
Today, I am tired.
Not because I cheated.
But because I cannot prove something that never happened.
I still love my husband.
I still want my family back.
But I honestly do not know what else to do.
Do you think deleting those chats automatically means I cheated?
Do you honestly think there is anything else
I can do to save my marriage, or should I stop begging and leave everything to God?
Please be honest. I will read every single comment.
