' *The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing' - Ps.34:10(KJV).*
I am often bewildered when I see a lot of believers claim the promises of God without the willingness to accept responsibility for it performance. A call to be a disciple of Christ is a call to shoulder responsibilities for the living God among the generation of mankind.
No doubt about it, the God who has called us into the joy of His everlasting kingdom via our faith in Christ is inherently good. No evil or darkness can be traceable to Him. However, from the text above, there is a caveat to enjoying that good nature of His. The caveat is all about the responsibility we - as His children - must be willing and ready to shoulder.
What exactly is the caveat? The second part of the afore-stated text makes it clear that only those who seek the LORD will behold, see, and experience His goodness.
To seek the LORD is to pursue Him passionately. It is to desire Him over and above everything the world system can offer us. It is to seek to know God and the power of His kingdom. To seek the LORD is to thirst and hunger for the person of God and not for His blessings.
The God of the Christian faith is never 'a use and dump God'. He detests those who see Him and relate with Him as a personality meant to manage crisis only in life. He loves, nutures, and prunes those whose engagement in life is to be men after His heart.
Only those who desire the person and presence of God will actually experience His goodness.
Permit me to quickly ask you the following salient questions :
1. Why do you serve God?
2. Why do you go to church?
3. Why do you pray to God?
If your answers to the questions above are as a result of material gain, then you can not experience the goodness inherent in God.
Remember : The goodness of God is the exclusive reserve of those who seek Him.
