Theme: Nurture your home.
What does it mean to nurture?
All living things needs nurturing including plants. The same way we nurture plants, so also our family and marriages needs nurturing. When we sit and just watch without taking actions to make sure our family stand, it'll just crumble. Nurturing families requires hard work and it mustn't be left to one party (husband or wife) Eph 5:25 indicates that both husband and wife have their role in making a home stand.
On the wedding day, the woman is being called a bride(a raw material given to the man)while the man is being called groom(to work On the bride and make good thing out of her). Therefore if a woman is misbehaving in the home this is because the groom has failed in his role.
How can we nurture?
- Let Christ be the centre of the home. Mal 2:13 The reason most people misbehave in a home is because they think they own the marriage whereas its God's
- Avoid deception. Gen 2:5 In other words there should be openness
- Avoid distance. Distance kills love
- Avoid criticism. Even if your spouse does something wrong we should follow what Jesus did in Rev 2:2-4
- Cultivate effective communication habits
- Regular intimacy
- Avoid harsh word
