KINGDOM CITIZENSHIP

Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:22–29

Memory Verse: Colossians 3:2

As a citizen of a country, you are granted certain rights. For example, you have the right to vote, the right to work, freedom of speech, among many other rights. You are also responsible to the sovereignty of the country you belong. In a different dimension, regardless of where you may live, if you belong to God, you will no longer belong to just the country of your earthly dwelling, you have become a citizen of the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God spread across earthly domain, is ruled and controlled by the principles of God. Presently, the kingdom of God does not have a clear physical domain, it is spiritual. It begins in the heart of a person by reason of personal conviction and same principle operate for everyone irrespective of human cultural heritage or political bias.

The kingdom of God begins in the hearts of men and is gained by a regeneration of heart according to John 3:3, “Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again”. Thus, the kingdom of God is a spiritual induction that begins when you are born again and then surrendered lordship of Jesus Christ in your heart and behave, and relate with fellow believers by God’s kingdom principles.

There are many benefits that accrue from being a citizen of God’s kingdom. One of which is living under God’s lordship (Matt. 16:24). This means giving God the right to have the final authority over every decision and choice you make in your life. Being a citizen of God’s kingdom also makes you live under God’s protection and have eternal life (Jn. 10:27–29). It also means that in Christ, you can be confident that your salvation is secured and safe. Another unique benefit as citizens of God’s kingdom is that the king, God Almighty, becomes responsible for your provision especially as you live surrendered to His lordship (Matt. 6:31–33).

As citizens of God’s kingdom, our presence in everywhere should reflect and showcase the glory of the King. It should bring succour, salvation, deliverance and healing, and indeed every peculiar benefit that is the portion of a true believer. Reflecting these benefits will build-up other believers and encourage unbelievers to turn to God Almighty.

LESSON 19 – 09 May, 2026

DIVINE ENCOUNTER: AN OCCASION FOR FULFILLING HEAVENLY PROMISE

Scripture Reading: Genesis 18:1–15

Memory Verse: Genesis 12:2

Introduction:

The account of Abraham and Sarah as recorded in the book of Genesis reveal the power of divine visitation. From the call of Abraham in Chapter 12 of Genesis up until chapter 18, heaven’s reality of the promise of a child has not taken shape in the life of this unique couple. Sarah had already by this time devise human solution for Abraham for the purpose of posterity by giving her maid Hagar yet the product of Sarah’s devise which is Ishmael was not the promise that God gave in Chapter 12. In Genesis 18:14, heaven began to unfold the divine plan of Abraham’s posterity, yet it appeared to Sarah as ridiculous thinking hence she laughed.

The importance of this cannot be overemphasized. It locates God as truly being faithful to His word, and He (God Almighty) will bring His promises to pass by His own peculiar device no matter how unseeming it would appear to the human mind. Throughout scriptures, God appeared and fulfilled His words to his servants in various ways. In 1 Kings chapters 17 and 18, we saw the record of the unique appearances and fulfilment of God’s promises and instructions through His servant Prophet Elijah. Thus, when one of the divine beings on this divine visitation declared if there were anything too hard for God, it was a wholistic message for the moment and for every promise God has made.

The unique visitation of the angels, and the responsive attitude of Abraham to these divine beings; created the enabling environment to bring the promises of Genesis 12:2 to reality. For us as believers, this lesson should encourage us to receive the word in faith and be open for any possibility God will choose to perform His act in our lives. When we attempt either in haste or unbelieve to provide a Hagar alternative, we can scuttle our covenant and, in the process, misrepresent the promises of God. May this lesson help us to be in waiting in righteousness even as we wait for the ultimate promise of the return of our saviour Jesus Christ so that as Isaac came, we may have a place like the five wise virgins when Jesus shall return.

LESSON QUESTIONS

1. What can we learn about God’s timing and power from His visitation to Abraham and Sarah? (Gen. 18:14; Hab. 2:3).

2. According to the scripture, in what common way could God visit people today? (Ps. 107:20; Jn.1:1&14).

3. Why do some people miss their divine visitation even after praying? (Mk. 6:5-6; 11:25-26; Lk. 19:42-44; Jam. 4:1-3).

4. What are some of the things the Word of God accomplish during a divine visitation? (Ps. 107:20; 119:130; Jn. 15:3; 17:17).

5. Considering the context of this lesson, how would you as a believer approach the promises of God? Discuss.

Making an impact means making positive changes to the environment, influencing others with righteous principle, loving them with the love of Christ and thus causing visible evidence of positive change. Impactful living by the principles of God will bring about change in others to live responsibly and accountable to God. As believers our task of impactful living begins with our homes, communities, neighbourhoods, workplaces and the world at large. As ambassadors of Christ, we ought to demonstrate the love of God to others both in words and actions. We ought to show kindness by responding to the needs of others, bearing one another burdens, showing godly examples, using all of these as strategies for soul winning. The Bible indeed has lots of kingdom minded people who affected their generations positively. Some of whom are Joseph in Egypt, Daniel in Babylon, Esther in Persia and above all our master and saviour Jesus Christ. All of these are templates for us to emulate and use as tools for purposeful positive change in and around us. DILIGENCE: A VITAL TOOL FOR FRUITFUL LIVING

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 6:4–11

Memory Verse: Proverbs 4:23

Introduction:

Diligence is a basic principle for any serious-minded person who desire increase, or greater manifestation and commendation. According to Proverbs 22:29, a diligent person makes himself remarkable, noticeable and outstanding even before the noble. Diligence is much more than hard work because it involves persistence and maintaining of approved standard while setting timelines in achieving landmark. In life, a great percentage of the human population knows their target but lose it because they lack diligence, are largely inconsistent and seen as slothful people in their engagements.

In Matthew 25:14–30, Jesus told a parable of three categories of workers who were entrusted with work tool that should produce results. The one with highest number of allocations of five doubled his allocation at harvest, same as the person next to him. Unfortunately, the worker with least allocation was found to be indolent reclining to excuses and produced no result. The categories of people who produce good results were praised and used as template of example of a good believer. The worker with the highest return rate in addition to his commendation had the lot of the lazy slothful worker added to his.

That parable is true and reflect the reality of what will happen when Jesus returns to reap the world. The parable should be a wake-up call for every believer to be at work because the size of the task is not as important as the accomplishment if we put our heart to do what is right and needful so that we can have the commendation of our master Jesus Christ. The book of Joshua 1:8–10 is a further reinforcement on the need for consistent, persistent diligent work because the end for such effort will produce good success. Let this lesson encourage us not to give up but strive until our last breath so that our effort will be accepted and rewarded by the master standard.

LESSON 15 — 11 April, 2026

TESTIMONY: A VERITABLE TOOL FOR EVANGELISM

Scripture Reading: Luke 8:26–39

Memory Verse: Luke 8:39

Introduction

Testimony refers to the witness or evidence that God provides to confirm His presence, compassion, power, and truth among men. Testimonies can manifest in various forms, showing miracles of answered prayers, or transformative experiences that demonstrate God’s active involvement in one’s life. In the context of God’s kingdom lifestyle, testimony serves as a powerful tool for evangelism, discipleship, and encouragement, helping believers to trust in God’s sovereignty and provision.

A lifestyle aligned to God’s kingdom principles is characterized by obedience to His word, faith in His promises, and a commitment to living according to His will. As believers walk in obedience and faith, they position themselves to experience unique testimony, which in turn strengthens their faith. This cycle of faith, obedience, and testimony is important for building a strong foundation in God’s kingdom and for advancing His purposes in the world.

The relationship between testimony and God’s kingdom lifestyle is a complete blend. On one hand, living a lifestyle that honours God opens the door for more testimonies, as believers demonstrate their commitment to His principles and values. On the other hand, testimony reinforces and encourages believers to continue living according to God’s kingdom principles, creating a pattern of growth, empowerment, and witness that glorifies God and advances His kingdom. May this lesson inspire us to do more in the things that concern God even as our lives become a field of testimonies to the glory of God.

LIVING: A LIFE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WITH GOD

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 18:1-7

Memory Verse: Matthew 6:33

Introduction

Righteousness is a scriptural theme in the operations of God’s kingdom. Righteousness with God refers to being in right standing or in a proper relationship with Him. It is often associated with the expression of faith in the finished works of Christ Jesus and the acts of living according to the written and revealed will of God. In God’s kingdom, righteousness is a fabric that reflects the nature of God and the operations of His kingdom both in His dealings with mankind and angelic entities.

Righteousness by faith in the finished works of Christ Jesus is receiving God’s saving grace through confession and believing in the Sonship, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Christ Jesus. It is not a result of any human effort but by the grace of justification and the purifying power of the blood of Jesus Christ. In Genesis 15:6, Abraham is a prime example of the foundation of righteousness by faith in God. He believed in God’s spoken promises and His ability to perform them, and it was counted to him as righteousness. Through faith, God offers righteousness to all who believes as a gift, and not as an earned reward.

Living a life of righteousness with God refers to living in a way that reflects God’s standard of living in our everyday actions and life. It is the outworking of the life of God through obedience to God's commands, loving others, and pursuing holiness in our daily conduct. It is a sincere pursuit of godliness by the empowerment of the indwelling Holy Spirit. When we live a life of righteousness with God, we reflect His nature to the world, showing forth the reality of God’s power to live above negative vices and every ungodliness or worldliness. May this lesson educate us on the need of righteous living and the possibility of living righteously in an ungodly generation.

Lesson Questions:

1. According to the Bible, what is righteousness with God? (Gen. 15:6; 1 Jn. 2:29; 3:3-10).

2. What are some of the benefits of living a life of righteousness with God? (Ps. 5:12; 84:11; Isa. 32:17; Matt. 6:33).

3. What are some of the ways believers can express the righteousness of God to the world? (Matt. 7:24-25; Micah 6:8; Isa. 1:16-17; Eph. 4:24-25).

4. Read 1 John 3:1-10, and discuss righteousness as a true mark of our discipleship and hope of eternity?.

5. Share your thought(s) on how believers or the church can maintain righteousness with God in this world of ever-increasing ungodliness.

LESSON 6 | 07 February, 2026

PATTERNED IN THE IMAGE OF CHRIST JESUS

Scripture Reading: Colossians 3:1-17
Memory Verse: Colossians 3:10

Introduction:

The creation account of mankind in Genesis 1:26-27 reveals the original intention of God for mankind to live in His image and likeness. Man was created to reflect God’s image and likeness thereby exercising and expressing the will of God on earth as His representative. Through obedience to the will and instructions of God, the government of the earth was patterned to reflect the government of heaven in its fullness and glory. This intention was circumvented by the rebellion of man against the eternal will of God in yielding to the deception of the devil.

God by His eternal will for mankind provided a pathway through the death of His Son Jesus Christ on the cross is for the redemption and restoration of mankind to His original plan. By faith in the finished work of Christ and the regenerative work of the Holy Spirit, the life of God is imputed into believers thereby re-establishing them joint heirs with Christ and enabling them to manifest His image. According to Colossians 3:12-14, the image of Christ Jesus portrays mercy and kindness towards others, humbleness and meekness of mind, patience, forbearing and forgiving, and indeed love for all men.

Living a life patterned in the image of Christ Jesus requires putting to death the carnality, that is, every desire of the flesh, pleasure and possession that tend to fight godliness. The life that is patterned in the image of Jesus Christ should show the manifest evidence of the Holy Spirit in words and actions while we relate with other people. May this lesson encourage us to grow in the knowledge and grace of Christ Jesus, fully guided by the Holy Spirit, and then be an instrument to attract and keep other believers to live a Godly and victorious living.

Lesson Questions:

1. What do you consider is the image of Christ Jesus according to the scripture? (Jn. 1:1; Heb. 1:1-3; Col. 1:14-15; 3:14; 1Jn. 1:5; 4:8,16) Hint: The word of God, A reflection of God the Father, Light, Love.

2. Study Genesis 1:26-27 and Romans 8:29, and examine the ultimate intention of God in the creation of mankind? Hint: For mankind to be patterned in the image of Jesus Christ i.e kingdom exploit.

3. According to Matthew 28:18-20 and Ephesians 4:7-16, what is the primary goal of the kingdom assignment of the great commission? Hint: To redeem and restore mankind to the very image of Christ Jesus.

4. What are some of the factors that enable redemption and restoration to the image of Christ Jesus? (Rom. 8:1-2, 13; Gal. 2:20; Eph. 4:22-23; Col. 3:10) Hint: Faith in Christ, death to self, knowledge of Christ Jesus, etc.

5. As salts and light of the earth according to the scripture, is your life truly a reflection of the image of Christ Jesus in your environment? Discuss.

LESSON 5 | 31 January, 2026

THE HOLY SPIRIT: THE REALITY OF GOD’S KINGDOM LIFE (PART 1)

Scripture Reading: John 16:5-15
Memory Verse: John 16:13

INTRODUCTION:

Jesus Christ throughout His earthly ministry emphasized and revealed the Holy Spirit as an important personality of the Godhead. The beginning of His ministry was commissioned by an empowering encounter and outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove at His baptism. Subsequently, His words and actions exemplified in His ministry of signs, miracles and wonders were revelations of His dependency on the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in the life of a believer is not just a helper or comforter but the very presence and power that makes the reality of the kingdom life possible.

The Holy Spirit manifested the realities of the kingdom of God in the lives of men and women both in the Old and New Testaments. In Judges 6:34, the Holy Spirit came upon Gideon and prepared him for the battle in which he and three hundred men were victorious against the Midianites. Samson through the Holy Spirit manifested supernatural power beyond his human ability in His calling to deliver the Israelites from the oppression of the Philistines. Examples like Deborah, Elijah, also experienced the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit and through them the realities of the kingdom of God were made manifest in their time.

Peter, other apostles and brethren in the day of Pentecost received the empowering outpouring of the Holy Spirit enabling them to manifest the realities of God's kingdom life. In Acts 5:12-16, they through the Holy Spirit demonstrated the reality of God's kingdom in signs and wonders throughout Jerusalem and the cities around them. God’s kingdom is not just an internal reality in the life of a believer but an outflowing witness that enables boldness, wisdom and miraculous signs that reveals God to the world. Therefore, let this lesson encourage us to study and know more about the person of the Holy Spirit and to develop stronger intimacy with Him in order to become vessels that reveal the kingdom of God to the world.

LESSON QUESTIONS:

1. Who is the person of the Holy Spirit according to the Holy Bible? (Acts 5:3-4; Gen. 1:2; Rom. 8:9b; 1 Jn. 5:7).

2. Mention some examples of men and women used by the Holy Spirit in the Bible to reveal the reality of God’s kingdom in their time and what lessons can we learn from them? (Judges. 4:14-15; 6:34; 15:14-16; 1 Kings 18:46; Acts 5:12-16).

3. What are some of the ways the Holy Spirit can reveal the reality of God’s kingdom through believers? (Dan. 3:16-30; 6:10-28; Acts 5:12-16; 8:4-8; 2 Cor. 8:1-15).

4. Study Luke 4:1-2, 14 and 24:46-49, and discuss the importance of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit in revealing God’s kingdom life?

5. What are some of the tools required in the lives of believers in order to demonstrate God’s kingdom life? (Acts 6:4; Lk. 4:1-2, 14; Isa. 40:31; 2 Cor. 3:18; 2 Tim. 2:15, 19-21).

6. Share your thoughts on how believers can grow in intimacy with the Holy Spirit and ways we can express the reality of God’s kingdom life in our environments. Discuss.

LESSON 4 | 24 January, 2026

ORDERED BY KINGDOM OBJECTIVE

Scripture Reading: Acts 9:1-20
Memory Verse: Exodus 3:10

INTRODUCTION:

Every commission, ministry, assignment ordained by God has a clear objective. Every believer in the same manner also has a defined goal by God. Whether it be ministry or individual, the ultimate purpose is the deliverance of man both physically and spiritually for the fulfilment of certain kingdom objectives.

This lesson intends to explore the template of the call of God of certain individuals as indication of what the kingdom charter ought to be. Our scriptural reading revealed the call of St. Paul in a dramatic manner with a clear term of reaching out to a unique set of people — the gentile nations and notable figures of his time.

Paul was outstanding, educated, had dual citizenship and a background for economic sustainability. No other member of the body of disciples matched his profile at the time. Our memory verse spotlights Moses, who had the understanding of the working of Egypt, and that knowledge helped in no small measure in the deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt.

Like the two characters in spotlight, everyone has peculiarities distinct for kingdom service. However, the question is if you have found yours and are working on those peculiar expertise / advantages. As a church, do we allow for the best of gifting for kingdom service to the glory of our Maker.

LESSON QUESTIONS

1. What was the ministry goal of St. Paul? (Acts 13:1-4; 26:14-19; Rom. 1:1-3,5).

2. For what purpose was the man Moses called? (Exo. 3: 7-10).

3. What were the equipping charges in the call of the disciples and their mission objective? (Mk. 3:13-15; 1:14-22; Matt. 28:18-20; Lk. 24:44-50).

4. What were some of the purposes of Jesus' coming? (Lk. 4:17-21; Jn. 3:14-18).

5. Considering the biblical references to ministry templates, how would you locate your kingdom activities to align with the purposes of God? Discuss.
