Today’s devotional focuses on what God considers before placing someone on a seat that is beyond their status and age. We will also be building on what we learned on Saturday: _PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE WHEN RULING OVER A PROVINCE.*_

WHAT DOES GOD CONSIDER BEFORE HE PLACES ONE OVER A PROVINCE?

God doesn’t look at CV. He looks at the heart (1 SAM 16:7)

1. CHARACTER OVER CHARISMA - _“A man after My own heart”_ (1 SAM 13:14). God tests your heart in secret before giving you a public province.
2. FAITHFULNESS IN LITTLE - _“He who is faithful in little...”_ (LUKE 16:10). Joseph was faithful in Potiphar’s house before the palace (GEN 39:4)
3. EXCELLENCE & SKILL - _“Skillful in all wisdom”_ (DAN 1:4). God promotes those who are prepared. Go and develop yourself.
4. FEAR OF GOD- _“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom”_ (PROV 9:10). Can God trust you with power and you won’t forget Him?
5. BURDEN FOR THE PEOPLE - Nehemiah wept for Jerusalem (NEH 1:4). God gives provinces to those who feel what He feels.

Note: Characters comes before elevation. Though, God qualifies the unqualified because He is All-knowing and He has reasons unknown to mere mortal.

PRAYERS:

Amen 🙏

May our generation never fail God in the name of Jesus Christ.

May the Holy Spirit help us to live righteously as we wait in anticipation for the days of our breakthrough in the name of Jesus Christ.

This morning, we will be looking into the precautions a chosen leader need to take while lifted to a greater position that requires greater grace.

PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE WHEN RULING OVER A PROVINCE

Rulership is power. Power without precaution destroys the ruler and the people.

1. PRECAUTION OF PRAYER - _“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God”_ (JAMES 1:5)
Never make decisions without God.
2. PRECAUTION OF COUNSEL - _“In multitude of counselors there is safety”_ (PROV 11:14). Don’t rule alone. Surround yourself with godly, wise advisors.
3. PRECAUTION OF INTEGRITY - _“They could find no fault in him”_ (DAN 6:4). Guard your finances, appointments, and relationships. One scandal can destroy 20 years.
4. PRECAUTION OF PRIDE - _“Pride goes before destruction”_ (PROV 16:18). Remember: God promoted you. Don’t think you did it alone.
5. PRECAUTION OF COMPROMISE - _“Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself”_ (DAN 1:8)
Set boundaries before temptation comes.

Think about the above precautions and give the Holy Spirit to be involved and guide you to the path of righteousness.

Serving God on any platform is an opportunity and it might be a test for the next phase of your life.

The Lord will help all us in the journey of faith in the name of Jesus Christ.

May our serving God in any platform never send us to HELL in the name of Jesus Christ.

God doesn’t ordain based on CV. He ordains based on character.

Calling and giftedness without godly characters are catastrophe.

7 PREREQUISITES THAT SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED IF RULING OVER A NATION IS IMPORTANT

1. GODLY CHARACTER
_“A man after God’s own heart”_ (1 Sam 13:14).
No compromise. No secret sin.

2. EXCELLENCE & SKILL
_“Young men with no blemish, skillful in all wisdom”_ (Dan 1:4)
God-ordained rulers are prepared. Go to school. Learn skill.

3. FAITHFULNESS IN LITTLE
_“He who is faithful in little will be faithful in much”_ (Luke 16:10)
Joseph was faithful in Potiphar’s house before the palace.

4. PRAYER & WORD LIFE
Daniel’s 3x daily prayer gave him access (Dan 6:10). Rulers must hear God for their nation.

5. WISDOM & DISCERNMENT
Solomon asked for wisdom to rule (1 Kings 3:9)
You need God’s wisdom, not just political strategy.

6. BURDEN FOR THE PEOPLE
Nehemiah wept for Jerusalem (Neh 1:4)
God ordains those who feel what God feels.

FEATURES OF A RULER AND AN ORDAINED RULER BY GOD

TEXT: _Daniel 6:3, Proverbs 29:2, 1 Peter 2:9_

A. GENERAL FEATURES OF A RULER:
1. AUTHORITY - Power to make and enforce decisions
2. VISION - Sees beyond today to the future of the province
3. INFLUENCE - People listen and follow
4. RESPONSIBILITY- Answers for what happens in his domain

B. FEATURES OF A GOD-ORDAINED RULER:
Using Daniel as the model:

1. EXCELLENT SPIRIT - _“An excellent spirit was in him”_ (Dan 6:3)
God-ordained rulers are different. They carry wisdom and skill.
2. INTEGRITY - _“They could find no fault in him”_ (Dan 6:4)
No corruption, no compromise.
3. FEAR OF GOD- Daniel prayed 3x daily even with a decree (Dan 6:10)
God first, position second.
4. WISDOM & UNDERSTANDING - _“10x better than all the magicians”_ (Dan 1:20)
Ordained rulers solve problems nations can’t solve.
5. SERVANT HEART- Joseph served in prison before the palace (Gen 39-41)
God promotes servants, not tyrants.
6. PROPHETIC INSIGHT - Daniel interpreted dreams and saw times (Dan 2:22)
God-ordained rulers hear God for their province.

NOTE: The world makes rulers by politics. God makes rulers by character.

THE DIFFERENCES & SIMILARITIES BETWEEN BEING A RULER AND LEADER

A. SIMILARITIES:
1. BOTH HAVE INFLUENCE - People follow both a ruler and a leader
2. BOTH REQUIRE RESPONSIBILITY - You answer for those under you
3. BOTH NEED VISION - _“Where there is no vision, people perish”_ (Prov 29:18)
4. BOTH ARE CALLED TO SERVE - _“He who is greatest, let him be servant”_ (Matt 23:11)

B. DIFFERENCES:
RULER
1. SCOPE: Governs a territory/province/nation
LEADER
SCOPE: Influences people toward a goal
2. RULER- AUTHORITY: Legal, governmental, positional
LEADER- AUTHORITY:Moral, relational, influence
3. RULER-
FOCUS:Policy, law, structure, governance LEADER -
FOCUS: People, vision, direction, motivation
4. RULER-
EXAMPLE: Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus, Pilate
LEADER -
EXAMPLE: Moses, Nehemiah, Jesus
5. RULER -
APPOINTMENT: Often by God & systems
LEADER-
APPOINTMENT: Often by gifting & calling

KEY: Every ruler must be a leader, but not every leader is a ruler.
Daniel was both. He led by example AND ruled by decree.

NOTE: Either by rulership or leadership, no one becomes anything without the approval of God.

Both rulership and leadership are not entitled to remain permanent.

Both are temporary.

There's always alternate unknown either to the one ruling or leading in case one looks down on God or takes Him for granted.

In any position we might find ourselves today, the One Who enthrones can still dethrones.

Let's be careful and always rule or lead with the fear of God in mind.

WHAT IS "RULERSHIP?"

TEXT: _Gen 1:26, Dan 2:48, Rev 5:10_

Rulership is God-given authority to govern, influence, and steward a territory, people, or sphere for God’s purpose and glory.

3 KEY TRUTHS ABOUT RULERSHIP

1. RULERSHIP IS GOD-ORDAINED
(Dan 4:17). No one becomes a ruler by accident. God promotes (Ps 75:6-7)

2. RULERSHIP IS STEWARDSHIP, NOT OWNERSHIP.
You don’t own the province. You manage it for God (Luke 12:48)

3. RULERSHIP IS INFLUENCE WITH RESPONSIBILITY
It is not just a title. It is the power to shape laws, culture, economy, and destinies in a province. Daniel influenced education, government, and policy in Babylon.

4 TYPES OF RULERSHIP IN SCRIPTURE
1. Spiritual Rulership - Over principalities (Eph 6:12)
2. Family Rulership - Fathers/Husbands (1 Tim 3:4-5)
3. Civic Rulership - Government, Kings, Governors (Rom 13:1)
4. Mountain Rulership - Media, Education, Business, etc.

BEING A RULER IN GOD'S MINDSET

God’s kind of rulership is different from the world’s. The world rules by force. God rules by the cross.

12 GOD-MINDSET PRINCIPLES FOR RULERS.

1. IT IS NOT TO ABUSE THE GRACE
(LUKE 12:48) Grace is for stewardship, not selfishness.
DECLARATION: _I will not waste God’s grace. I will use my influence to build God’s Kingdom and bless my generation, in Jesus name!_

2. IT IS NOT TO RULE WITHOUT MERCY IN MIND (MATT 5:7) God-ordained rulers temper justice with mercy.
DECLARATION:_I decree that I will rule with justice and mercy. My heart will be tender like Jesus, in Jesus name!_

3. IT IS NOT TO LORD IT OVER PEOPLE
(MATT 20:26) God’s rulers serve, they don’t oppress.
DECLARATION:* _I reject pride and dictatorship. I receive the spirit of servanthood. I will lift people, not crush them, in Jesus name!_

4. IT IS NOT TO FORGET GOD WHEN YOU ARE LIFTED (DEUT 8:14)
Success is the greatest test.
DECLARATION:_In my elevation, I will not forget God. My heart will remain humble and dependent on Him, in Jesus name!_

5. IT IS NOT TO RULE WITHOUT THE WORD (JOSH 1:8)
God’s rulers legislate by scripture.
DECLARATION: _The Word of God will be the foundation of my decisions. I will rule by divine wisdom, in Jesus name!_

6. IT IS NOT TO BE CORRUPT OR TAKE BRIBES (EX 23:8)
Integrity is the currency of heaven’s rulers.
DECLARATION:* _I decree purity over my hands and my heart. No corruption will follow me. I will walk in transparency, in Jesus name!_

7. IT IS NOT TO RULE WITHOUT PRAYER

Daniel ruled because he prayed 3x daily (DAN 6:10)
DECLARATION: _I will not rule by strategy alone. I will rule by revelation. My altar will be hot, in Jesus name!_

8. IT IS NOT TO BUILD YOURSELF AND DESTROY OTHERS (JER 29:7)
Godly rulers build systems that outlive them.
DECLARATION:_I will build people and build institutions. My rulership will leave a godly legacy behind, in Jesus name!_

9. IT IS NOT TO BE PROUD OR HAVE A LIFTED HEART (JAMES 4:6)
DECLARATION: _Pride will not destroy me. I put on humility. God will exalt me in due season, in Jesus name!_

10. IT IS NOT TO ESTABLISH YOURSELF WITHOUT ESTABLISHING RIGHTEOUSNESS

DECLARATION: _I decree that righteousness will be established in my province through me. Evil altars will bow, in Jesus name!_

11. IT IS NOT TO RULE WITHOUT RAISING OTHERS(2 TIM 2:2)
Daniel raised Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego (DAN 2:49)
DECLARATION:* _I will not be a lone ruler. God will bring men and women around me. I will raise the next generation of rulers, in Jesus name!_
12. IT IS NOT TO RULE IN THE FEAR OF MEN
(PROV 29:25) _“We must obey God rather than men”_ (ACTS 5:29)
DECLARATION:_I reject the fear of man. I will only fear God. I will speak truth to power and stand for righteousness, in Jesus name!

CORPORATE PROPHETIC DECLARATION FOR RULERS

_Father, I decree over every man and woman You are ordaining as a ruler in this generation:_

2. _You will rule with justice and mercy._
3. _You will serve and not oppress._

SUB-TOPIC: RED SIGNALS WHEN A BELIEVER IS RUNNING OUT OF GOD'S ORDAINED BLESSINGS FOR A LIFE OF EXCELLENCE

When God’s flow of reward for excellence begins to dry, He usually gives warning signs first.

Like oil in a lamp, excellence needs constant refilling.

Here are 9 RED SIGNALS to watch for:

9 RED SIGNALS THAT SHOW THAT YOU ARE RUNNING OUT OF GOD'S ORDAINED BLESSINGS FOR EXCELLENCE

1. LOSS OF THE “EXCELLENT SPIRIT” - SPIRITUAL DRYNESS
Signal: Prayer becomes dry. Bible reading is a duty. No burden for God.

Root: (Dan 6:3) - Daniel’s excellence started with spirit. When the Spirit is grieved, rewards stop. (Eph 4:30)

Danger: You start running on talent, not anointing.

2. COMPROMISE AND CUTTING CORNERS
Signal: “Just manage it.” “Everyone does it.” Bribery, lies, and shortcuts become normal.

Root: (Dan 1:8) - Daniel purposed not to defile himself.

Danger: God cannot bless what He cannot endorse. (Prov 11:1)

3. MEDIOCRITY REPLACES MASTERY
Signal: You no longer improve your skill. You do the minimum. Late submissions. Sloppy work.

Root: (Prov 22:29) - Skillful men stand before kings.

Danger: When excellence drops, influence and “great gifts” drop too.

4. PRIDE AND SELF-GLORY
Signal: “I did it.” No gratitude. Looking down on others. Refusing correction.

Root: (Acts 12:23) - Herod took glory and was judged.

Danger: _“God resists the proud”_ (James 4:6). Resistance leads to closed heavens.

5. ENVY, COMPARISON AND BITTERNESS
Signal: Angry when others are rewarded. Gossip. “Why him and not me?”

Root: Envy is _“rottenness to the bones”_ (Prov 14:30)

Danger: Bitterness blocks favor. You can’t carry new oil with an old bitter heart.

6. LOSS OF PROBLEM-SOLVING BURDEN
Signal: You no longer bring solutions. You now complain like everyone else.

Root: (Dan 2:24) - Daniel was called because he had answers.

Danger: When you stop adding value, people stop rewarding you.

7. ISOLATION FROM GODLY COUNSEL AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Signal: You push away mentors, pastors, and friends. “Nobody can tell me anything.”

Root: (Prov 15:22) - Without counsel, plans fail.

Danger: Isolation is where the enemy attacks excellence.

8. MONEY/REWARD BECOMES THE GOD
Signal: Chasing money over ministry. Greedy. Stingy. No more sowing or generosity.

Root: (Deut 8:17-18)- “My power got me this wealth.”

Danger: When gifts become the goal, God withdraws the Giver.

9. NO MORE FRUIT OR TESTIMONIES
Signal: Your work is not producing results. Doors that used to open are now closed. Favor is gone.

Root: (John 15:2) - Every branch that bears fruit, He prunes. Every branch that doesn’t, He cuts.

Danger: This is the final signal that the blessing for that season is ending if there is no repentance.

HOW TO GET BACK INTO GOD'S ORDAINED BLESSINGS OF EXCELLENCE

1. REPENT- (Rev 2:5) “Remember, Repent, and Do the first works”
2. RETURN TO THE ALTAR - Prayer, Word, Fasting. Refill the excellent spirit (Dan 6:10)
3. RENEW YOUR COMMITMENT - (Dan 1:8). Purpose again not to defile yourself

5. REIGNITE GRATITUDE - Thank God and give Him the glory (Deut 8:18)

DECLARATION:
Oh Lord , I refuse to run dry.

My excellence will not fade.

God’s blessings will continue with me.

Restore to me the Spirit of Excellence.

Let the flow of Your blessings and rewards continue in my life for Your glory in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen!

PRAYER:
Father, forgive me where I have drifted.

Restore the Spirit of Excellence to me.

Let Your blessings and rewards flow again in my life.

Make me a channel of Kingdom Influence

Almighty Father, open my eyes to see any red signal in my life.

SATURDAY 15TH AUGUST, 2026

THEME FOR AUGUST: OUR MONTH OF KINGDOM INFLUENCE

ANCHOR VERSE FOR THE MONTH: DANIEL 2:48 KJV
_“Then the king made Daniel a great man, and gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.”_

SUB-TOPIC: REWARDED - THE BLESSINGS OF EXCELLENCE (3)
TEXT:* _“...and gave him many great gifts”_ (DANIEL 2:48b)

As we are proceeding from where we stopped yesterday, we shall consider the second part of what we discussed in our devotional yesterday.

We treated the Dos that we need to abide with in order to enjoy the blessedness of excellence, we are going to look into the Don'ts of it that I consider as the killers of the blessedness of excellence.

7 DON'TS THAT KILL THE BLESSEDNESS OF EXCELLENCE

1. DON'T: SETTLE FOR MEDIOCRITY / “JUST MANAGE IT” MENTALITY
Why: Kings don’t promote average people (Prov 22:29)

Danger: _“Sloppy, late, and careless”_ work pushes you out of influence. Excellence is a choice.

2. DON'T: COMPROMISE TO GET AHEAD FASTER
Why: Babylon offered better food and idols (Dan 1:8, Dan 3)

Danger: Cutting corners, lying, or bribes may bring quick money but kills long-term reward and testimony.

3. DON'T: BE LAZY OR PROCRASTINATE
Why: _“The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing”_ (Prov 13:4)

Danger: Excellence requires diligence. Delayed work, excuses, and half-done jobs cancel rewards.

4. DON'T: BECOME PRIDEFUL WHEN YOU EXCEL
Why: _“Pride goes before destruction”_ (Prov 16:18)

Danger: Boasting, looking down on others, or taking God’s glory will make God resist you (James 4:6)

5. DON'T: WORK FOR APPLAUSE OF MEN ONLY
Why: _“Eye-service”_ (Eph 6:6)

Danger: If you only do well when people are watching, your excellence is not sustainable. Burnout is coming.

6. DON'T: NEGLECT YOUR SPIRITUAL LIFE FOR SKILL
Why: Daniel prayed 3x daily even as governor (Dan 6:10)

Danger: Skill can take you to the palace, but only the Spirit will keep you there and keep you pure.

7. DON'T: BE ENVIOUS OF OTHERS' REWARDS
Why: _“A sound heart is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones”_ (Prov 14:30)

Danger: Comparing and competing poisons excellence. Celebrate others. Your season will come.

Note: Whatever the Holy Scriptures ask or command you to do, kindly do it.

Obedience in God through His words and the instincts from the Holy Spirit can sustain God's blessings in your life.

DECLARATION:
I refuse to further disobey God.

God's Spirit lives inside of me.

I am a Carrier of God's blessings.

The devil has no foothold over God's blessings in my life.

I declare "Forward Ever and Backward Never" in the name of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER:
May the abiding presence of God always rest upon each and everyone of us throughout the days of our lives in the name of Jesus Christ.
