TRUE DISCIPLES WILL BE EXALTED*

Topic For Adults:
*Future Exaltation:*
2 Cor. 4:8-17*
[8]We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.
[9]We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
[10]Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.
[11]Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be evident in our dying bodies.
[12]So we live in the face of death, but this has resulted in eternal life for you.
[13]But we continue to preach because we have the same kind of faith the psalmist had when he said, “I believed in God, so I spoke.”
[14]We know that God, who raised the Lord Jesus, will also raise us with Jesus and present us to himself together with you.
[15]All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.
[16]That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day.
[17]For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! (NLT).

*SUMMARY*
*Believers are called to live a life of humility and sacrifice; they also face persecutions and afflictions.* _There are however great rewards awaiting those who endure to the end._
They are taken as special Treasures to God and an indescribable glory prepared for them in heaven.
*The rewards far exceed the sacrifice made.*

*POINT OF EMPHASIS:* To become truly great, seek to be a true disciple of Christ.

*PRAYER POINT:* I humble myself before You, O God, exalt me in due time.

*Gaining Victory Over Carnal Nature*

*Rom. 8:5-14; 1 Cor. 3:1-4*

Romans 8:5-14
[5]For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
[6]For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
[7]Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
[8]So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
[9]But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
[10]And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
[11]But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
[12]Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
[13]For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
[14]For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

1 Corinthians 3:1-9
[1]And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
[2]I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
[3]For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
[4]For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

The carnal nature, also known as the flesh, is the sinful inclination that opposes the Spirit of God within believers. Romans 8:5-14 contrasts those who live according to the flesh with those who live by the Spirit. Walking in victory over carnality requires a conscious decision to set our minds on the things of the Spirit, which brings life and peace. In 1 Corinthians 3:1-4, Paul rebukes the Corinthian believers for their spiritual immaturity and divisions which stem from their fleshly mindset. True victory over the carnal nature comes through surrender to the Holy Spirit, crucifying sinful desires, and yielding to the transforming power of God.
*POINT OF EMPHASIS:* It takes absolute surrender and total commitment to the course of Jesus Christ to gain victory over flesh.
*PRAYER POINT*: Father, give us the power to overcome self and sinful nature in the name of Jesus Christ.

*Intercede For Unbelievers' Salvation*

*1 Tim. 2:1-4*
[1]I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
[2]Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
[3]This is good and pleases God our Savior,
[4]who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. (NLT).

*COMMENTARY:*
*God desires that every person should be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.*
He has provided the way for man to be reconciled to Him through the atoning death of Jesus Christ on the cross.
However, very many people still wallow in sin because Satan has blindfolded them and deceived them that they are incapable of seeing their need of the Saviour.
Believers whose eyes have been opened to the truth need to pray earnestly for others - pray that those who are captives of their sin nature be delivered, that those who have been deceived into a state of spiritual slumber and complacency be awakened, pray that those who have backslidden repent and return to the way of truth.
*Going out to witness Christ to unbelievers needs to be supported with fervent prayers that the word preached will have maximum impact.*

*POINT OF EMPHASIS:* God is looking for intercessors who will plead on behalf of unbelievers.

*PRAYER POINT:* Holy Spirit, convict and convert unbelievers in my family and all around me in Jesus' names.

TUESDAY, 29/07/25

*The Holy Spirit Assists Bellevers in Intercession*

*Rom. 8:26-27*
[26]And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
[27]And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. (NLT).

*Jn. 14:15-16*
[15]“If you love me, obey my commandments.
[16]And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. (NLT).

*COMMENTARY:*
The Holy Spirit helps the believer in three ways at the prayer altar.
a. First, He energises the believer to pray when he is weak and is unable to continue to pray.
b. In the second place, the Holy Spirit guides the Christian to pray in agreement with God's will in order for the prayer to be acceptable.
c. In the third place the Holy Spirit intercedes on behalf of the believer before the Throne of Grace.
The intensity of the Holy Spirit's intercession is described as *"groaning which cannot be uttered".*
*This is probably the deepest intensity of intercession that one person can undertake for another. For the prayer of the righteous to be fervent, effective and have much power, the Holy Spirit has to be involved.*

*POINT OF EMPHASIS:* The Holy Spirit intercedes for the believer with groans too deep for words.

*PRAYER POINT:* Holy Spirit, strengthen me with power in my inner man that I may be an effective intercessor.

SUNDAY, 27/07/25

*Fasting and Praises to God*

*Isa. 58:1-6*
[1]“Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast.
Shout aloud! Don’t be timid.
Tell my people Israel of their sins!

[2]Yet they act so pious!
They come to the Temple every day
and seem delighted to learn all about me.
They act like a righteous nation
that would never abandon the laws of its God.
They ask me to take action on their behalf,
pretending they want to be near me.
[3]‘We have fasted before you!’ they say.
‘Why aren’t you impressed?
We have been very hard on ourselves,
and you don’t even notice it!’
“I will tell you why!” I respond.
“It’s because you are fasting to please yourselves.
Even while you fast,
you keep oppressing your workers.
[4]What good is fasting
when you keep on fighting and quarreling?
This kind of fasting
will never get you anywhere with me.
[5]You humble yourselves
by going through the motions of penance,
bowing your heads
like reeds bending in the wind.
You dress in burlap
and cover yourselves with ashes.
Is this what you call fasting?
Do you really think this will please the lord?
[6]“No, this is the kind of fasting I want:
Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;
lighten the burden of those who work for you.
Let the oppressed go free,
and remove the chains that bind people. (NLT).

*Acts 16:25-26*
[25]Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening.
[26]Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! (NLT).

*COMMENTARY:*
*Fasting and praising God are two potent weapons against the enemy of prayer.*
Fasting helps the Christian to subdue his carnal nature which the enemy wants to use to hinder his prayers.
*Periods of fasting give the Christian time to focus on seeking God's face in prayer and to bring his flesh under the control of his spirit.*
_Fasting is of no use unless it is accompanied with prayer and obedience to God's commands._
*Giving praises to God, even when circumstances appear contrary to what we desire, brings down the power of God in a fresh dimension and denies the enemy the joy of seeing us sorrowful. We should learn to praise God in all situations (1 Thess. 5:18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.).*
When Jehoshaphat and his people sang praises to God, God caused his enemies who came to war against him to destroy each other; God fought Jehoshaphat's battle and won victory for him.

*POINT OF EMPHASIS:* Fasting and praising God are keys to defeating the enemy at the prayer altar.

*PRAYER POINT:* Father, make me stronger than my enemies at the altar of prayer.

SATURDAY, 26/07/25

*Life of Hollness and Obedience to God's Commands*

*Jn. 15:1-7*
[1]“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.
[2]He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.
[3]You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.
[4]Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
[5]“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
[6]Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.
[7]But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! (NLT).

*1 Pet. 1:15-16*
[15]But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
[16]For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.” (NLT).

*COMMENTARY:*
God imputes the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ to a Christian who has just given his/her life to Jesus.
From that time on, the person has access to the grace and empowerment to abstain from sin.
*It becomes the responsibility of the person to live a holy life and to obey God's commands with the help of the grace which God grants. As long as the person walks in holiness, he remains untouchable to the devil and has unhindered access to the Throne of Grace-no hindrance to his prayers and petitions.*
_When the white garment of righteousness of the person is stained because he has committed sin, the devil gets the opportunity to accuse him before God and to hinder his prayers (Zech. 3:1-5)._
*In case a Christian falls into sin, he should repent immediately and turn away from the sin in order to not give the devil the opportunity he has been waiting for.*

*POINT OF EMPHASIS:* The white garment of righteousness of saints robs the devil of the opportunity to hinder their prayers.

*PRAYER POINT:* I receive the grace to fully obey God's commands and live in holiness.

FRIDAY, 25/07/25

*Unwavering Falth in God's Love and Power*

*Heb. 11:1-6*
[1]Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
[2]Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.
[3]By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.
[4]It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.
[5]It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying—“he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God.
[6]And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. (NLT).

*Eph. 3:20*
[20]Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (NLT).

*COMMENTARY:*
*One of the weapons the devil deploys against the Christian is doubt-the fiery darts of the wicked one (Eph. 6:16 -- Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked).*
The devil's goal is to make the Christian doubt the power of God to grant the request he is making or to think that God does not really care about him.
*While the Christian is still on his knees praying, the devil makes him to begin to seek for alternate ways of solving the problem. The devil knows that a double minded person cannot receive anything from God* (Jam. 1:6-8).
*James 1:6-8*
[6]But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
[8]Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do. (NLT).
*The Christian needs to be convinced that God loves him and has the power to do far above what he is asking for.*
Jesus teaches that when we ask and believe without doubting, we can ask a mountain to be removed and be cast into the sea and it will be done (Matt. 21:21-22).
*The devil cannot defeat a Christian dogged in his faith.*

*POINT OF EMPHASIS:* Unwavering faith quenches the fiery darts of the enemy and yields great results.

*PRAYER POINT:* I receive the faith that moves mountains in Jesus' name.
