DID GOD TELL NOAH TO BUILD AN ARK?
I just watched a video of Dr. Abel Damina saying that God didn't tell Noah to build an Ark. That is scripturally inaccurate.
In Genesis 6:14, the instruction about building an Ark was given to Noah. God told him:
"Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch."
Then Hebrews 11:7 says, "By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith."
This scripture clearly states what prompted Noah to act as FAITH and HOLY FEAR. The Greek word translated holy fear is eulabētheis. It means to show pious care.
Faith is acting on God's word. Holy fear means reverence. He acted with reverential circumspection and adhered to the specifications for the building of the Ark.
So Noah responded to God's instruction and he built an Ark according to the specifications given to him to follow.
If Dr. Abel Damina is talking about typology in theology, that I will understand. But saying that God didn't tell Noah to build an Ark is pure heresy. That is a divisive opinion.
God literally told Noah to build an Ark according to Genesis 6:13-14. Not even the Epistles which are the explanations for the Old Testament scripture argued this clear fact.
In theological typology, the Ark represents Jesus, while the flood represents the troubled world of men.
Hence, anyone who listens to the word of God (the instruction that Noah received) and run into Jesus, shall be saved.
In Matthew 24:38, Jesus told the Jews, "As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."
Before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark.
According to Jesus, this is what would characterize his second coming. Men will be lost in fun and pleasure, then he would come.
