MOUNTING CRUSADE ASSEMBLY – WORLDWIDE
BEGINNING THE DAY WITH GOD – DEVOTIONAL PRAYER
Date: 17th January, 2026
TOPIC: IS LIKE JESUS IS NOT JESUS, BE WATCHFUL
TEXTS: John 10:1–14
John 10:1 – “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.”
John 10:2 – “But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.'
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Anyone you follow determines where you end up; therefore, discernment is vital.
INTRODUCTION:
No one truly leads himself. Every human life is under influence—either by the power of God or the power of the devil. Scripture makes it clear that there is the Good Shepherd, and there are also counterfeit shepherds.
Jesus said in John 10:5 that the sheep “will not follow a stranger.” This tells us that strangers exist—and they are many. The devil has deployed strangers into the world to run his enterprise:
Strange “Christs”
Strange prophets
Strange pastors and teachers
—all claiming to shepherd God’s people, yet they are not sent by the Good Shepherd.
This was exactly what Apostle Paul warned the Corinthian church about:
2 Corinthians 11:4 –
“For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit… or another gospel…”
Paul called them what Jesus called them: thieves and robbers—because they introduce another Jesus, another spirit, and another gospel.
He further warned the Galatian church:
Galatians 1:6–9 –
Any gospel different from the original gospel of Christ is a perversion, and those who preach it are accursed, even if they appear spiritual or angelic.
The devil knows that it is Jesus you want as your Shepherd, so he disguises himself in sheep’s clothing. That is why discernment is critical.
As a true sheep under the Good Shepherd, it is expedient that you know the difference between:
The voice of the stranger, and
The voice of the Good Shepherd
These strangers may look like Jesus, talk like Jesus, and quote Scripture—but they are not Jesus.
Hebrews 13:8 reminds us:
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.”
If the voice you are hearing contradicts the unchanging Christ, it is not from Him.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Father, sharpen my spiritual ears. Help me to clearly recognize the voice of the Good Shepherd and reject every strange voice, in Jesus’ name.
2. Lord, deliver me from every counterfeit shepherd, false doctrine, and deceptive spirit sent to divert my destiny, in Jesus’ name.
3. Jesus, my Good Shepherd, lead me in truth, preserve my soul, and keep me steadfast in the original gospel, now and forever, in Jesus’ name.
