THEME: THE GOD OF DISTINCTION.

MEMORISE:

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. Genesis 1:27

READ: Genesis 1:14-19
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

MESSAGE:
Our God is the God of distinction; He is not an author of confusion. A man chooses to be confused when he does not want to do the right thing as ordered by God and so pretends that he does not know what God wants from him. He created lights for a purpose and darkness for another. God commanded:
“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:”
Genesis 1:14

The God of order is that God of distinction. When He wanted to create man, for example, the Bible says:
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” Genesis 1:27

God, in His infinite wisdom, created mankind as male and female, yet some people feel the need to change their gender as though He did not know what He was doing when He created them!

God does not make mistakes. Our God is the perfect God of distinction. He created the day for work and the night to rest. If for any reason we do not rest in one night, the following day should compensate for the loss of rest. Failure to observe rest produces stress, sickness and ultimately death. Little wonder life expectancy in the last fifty year has been on the decline. Achievements that should normally have taken forty years to accomplish are realized in fewer than thirty, at the price of dying earlier.

The God of distinction says in His word:
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14

He then commanded in 2 Corinthians 6:17-18:
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”

A lot of people have mixed many profane things with the scared. The God of distinction will never lower His standards. It is our duty to live up to His standards.

ACTION POINT:
Look into your life and see where you have compromised your values as a Christian. Repent and begin to walk in the path of righteousness again.

CHRISTIAN LOVE AND FELLOWSHIP
(Part 5)

INTRODUCTION:

In the last part of this study, we considered impediments to love and fellowship in the home and in the Church. We will be rounding up this study today; we encourage you to ensure you do everything possible to promote love both in the Church and at home. 1. REQUIREMENTS OF LOVE AND FELLOWSHIP IN THE HOME AND IN THE CHURCH There are basic factors that could create an atmosphere of love and fellowship in the home and in the Church. These are: 97 (a) Keeping Christ in the centre: The secret of true love and fellowship is union with Christ and total submission to His will. Psalm 27:1, Proverbs 3:6. (b) Complete obedience to God's commandment. Ps. 119: 1-3, 10-12, 16, 140; Jn. 14: 23,24; Acts 2:42. (c) Corporate and individual prayers affect love and fellowship. Prayers keep brethren in unity but it has to be from a clean heart. Mt.18:19, Acts 4:23-32. (d) Sacrificial giving, sharing and affection for one another. Love is not possessive but shares with the needy. Attendance of house fellowship, finding time for one another and staying together will be important. Acts 21 :41-47, Acts 4:32-35, Jn. 3:16-18. (e) Partnership Evangelism. It creates an atmosphere of love and friendship among members of the same team Lk. 10:1, Mk.6:7,12; Acts13:1-4.

CHRISTIAN LOVE AND FELLOWSHIP (Part 4)

INTRODUCTION: rom past studies, we have learnt that Love is the foundation of our Christian faith and Christian homes. The word of God says “For God so love the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Whenever this Christian treasure is manifested in the home and in the church, Christ is exalted and God glorified, and the brethren are fulfilled in their Christian calling. IMPEDIMENTS TO LOVE AND FELLOWSHIP IN THE HOME AND IN THE CHURCH.

(A) IN THE HOME. w Lack of sacrificial love, mutual trust and understanding between the couple. Eph. 5:25,22,33; Titus 2:3-5; 1 Pet. 3:1-12. w Failure to keep to God's established standard for the home i.e. wife's submission to the husband; selfless love to the wife at all times. Ph. 2:4, Eph.5:22-33. w Lack of respect and honour for one another. 1 Peter 3: 1-9 w Unholy, sinful behaviour- bitterness, rudeness, selfishness, adultery, unclean language. Col. 3:18,19, Eph. 4: 31,32. w Unkind, criticism, impatience, nagging, lack of appreciation and consideration for others. 1 Cor. 7:32-34. w Infiltration of third party, in-laws, relations. Gen. 2:24. w Failure of husband in providing for the family. 1 Tim.5:8. w Prayerlessness and failure to live by God's word. Mat.18:19

(B) IN THE CHURCH
Gossiping, backbiting, tale bearing and spreading bad news about other brethren. Rom. 1 :28-32.

Unkind criticism, lack of love and consideration for the suffering and the afflicted. Titus 3:2, Provo 22:13

Using personal secret revealed to the minister in preaching topic, illustrations and examples.

Lack of Bible based hospitality and brotherly affection.
False doctrine and failure to keep to the established truth. Mt. 7:15,

Sin. Eph.5:11,12.
