REDEMPTION ARENA CHURCH OJOBO
TOPIC: WHO ARE YOU?
TEXT: 1 John 5:19, Matthew l6:15-16
"And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness"
"He saith unto them, but whom say ye that l am? And Simon Peter answered and said, thou
art the Christ, the son of the living God".
In a world filled with uncertainty an d insecurity, it's vital to comprehend our
identity. Matthew 16:15- 16 records Jesus asking His disciples, "But whom say
ye that I am?" Peter's response, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God'
reflects a deep understanding of Jesus'
identity. Many grapms from knowing
e with insecurity due
to a lack of understanding of who they are. Security in God
your identity in Him. John the Baptist exemplified this in. John 1:19-34; when
asked about his identity. he confidently knew his purpose.
Confusion about your identity is a gateway to defeat and failure. the devil, knew
His identity, resisting the Jesus, when tempted by the devil, knew His identity,
resisting the challenge to prove it through miracles. David, facing Goliath.
declared the armies of Israel as "the armies of the living God' securing victory
through identity.
Challenge yourself to approach life from your identity in Christ.
The devil acknowledges your identity (Acts 19:15), and your victory is tied to
understanding who you are. Embrace your identity, face challenges with
confidence, and return with testimonies.
Knowing your identity is not enough; proclaiming it is essential. 1 John 5:19
asserts, "We know that we are of God, " highlighting the importance of speaking
out about our identity.
Declarations like"l am of God, I am an overcomer" serve as
a deterrent to the devil. When you vocalize your identity, you separate yourself
from the crowd and gain clarity in distinguishing needs from wants. Constantly
professing your identity brings precision and order to your life, aligning it with
God's promises. Your words shape your reality. Life circumstances should not
name you; your place of self-affirmation is a place of great admiration. Walk in
the light of this revelation, and witness the defeat of the devil before you.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I will no longer disappoint you by acting less than what you say
l am. I receive the enablement to walk in the reality of my identity. I receive grace
to fully comprehend my identity under God and to walk in the reality of it in.Jesus'
name. Amen.
