RIGHTEOUS GIVING: A BRIEF SERMON ANALYSIS
HOSEA 10:12-15, 2ND CORINTHIANS 9:1-10
HALLELUYAH!
Paul was very worried about the collection for the hungry saints in Jerusalem. He began the project not only out of fondness for his own people but also to encourage and promote unity within the Church of Christ. The gospel's transforming power is evident in how it erases the stark differences between the rich and the poor and between Jews and Gentiles, the privileged and the underprivileged, affirming Christ's all-encompassing nature.
To Paul, giving money is like sowing seeds. Whatever is put in the collection box will definitely come back to the giver with a large increase. Therefore, Christians should give willingly, generously, and with spontaneity. They should not give reluctantly or out of obligation. Giving should be like that of a farmer who does not hesitate to put his hand deep into his granary with the expectation that any extra grain scattered will come back to him thirty or even a hundred times more. Every coin given with a pure heart will come back to us someday.
Therefore, the first lesson teaches us to sow in righteousness to reap mercy. We should not give up but continue to break fallow ground until God comes to rain His righteousness upon us. This clearly indicates that the reward of righteousness may not come immediately but surely and abundantly.
Let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest. So then, as often as we have the chance, we should do good to EVERYONE.
Some of the indications of righteous giving include:
1. Believers Must Practice Giving as a Spiritual Discipline.
2. Believers Must Guard Against Wrong Motives in Their Giving.
3. Believers Must Pursue God’s Reward for Selfless Giving.
In conclusion
As the year ends, let's think about how we can always give right. Giving is more than just money - using our spiritual gifts, knowledge, time, experience, connections, and resources to help others is also a way of giving. Don't be disheartened by the world's selfishness and greed. Even if the whole world disappoints God, you can be one of the few souls that He will delight in. When God rewards you, you'll be happy that you followed His principles.
Prayer:
Almighty Father, renew my mind to be a righteous giver so that I can reap mercy and enjoy the abundant showers of the rewards of righteousness, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

GOD'S PROGRAMMING: A BRIEF SERMON ANALYSIS

PROVERBS 11:23-28, MARK 4:26-29

HALLELUYAH!

God fashioned the universe to function under laws. Therefore, comprehension and application of these laws are crucial to optimize the resources that have been made available to us. An apt example is Jesus Christ's arrival on earth; although redemption from sin is a spiritual process, He still had to appear physically and subject His body to physical death to achieve this.

Most often, religious individuals experience stunted growth due to their reliance solely upon spiritual laws which they may not fully comprehend and therefore falter at.

The kingdom can be likened to a farmer who sows his seed - an act that occurs in the physical realm. The farmer then proceeds with other tasks until he returns later only to find that his seeds have germinated, sprouted and borne fruit. According to God's programme for growth and development, the mechanism required for such has already been contained within each individual seed.

Consequently,

Every seed must perish before producing new fruits
Each seed yields fruits of its own kind
Fruits will manifest when it is time
Multiple fruits will emerge from every single seed
Only when soil conditions are optimal will a planted seed bear fruit

Therefore one must consider all relevant factors when planting a particular type of seed if one desires specific resulting fruit even though ultimately God causes growth according to His programming system which has remained constant since earth's inception. For instance, if my objective were oranges I would need to ensure I plant orange seeds into appropriate soil whilst also bearing in mind it could take up to five years or more before harvesting commences.

The first lesson highlights various principles for earthly prosperity:

1. A desire for goodness must be present. Every genuinely wealthy man has something good they are doing.

2. Generosity is essential as wealth stems from one’s ability to give gladly.

3. Hoarders invite curses onto themselves whereas those who freely share attract more patronage.

4. Be cautious while seeking goodness because falsehood also appears as goodness.

5. Do not place trust solely on riches rather invest in people

In contrast, the second lesson focuses on divine prosperity:

1. Seed planting is a sacrifice or investment. You must be willing to sacrifice your life for the sake of the gospel.

2. You must submit yourself for germination and nurturing according to the growth mechanisms preordained by God to attain maturity.

3. Afterwards you become capable of producing worthy harvest fruits for entry into God’s Kingdom thus ensuring continuous personal development.

What actions are important for you to undertake?

1. Choosing both appropriate church environments (soil & atmospheric conditions)

2. Willingness towards receiving “the word” (a tiny yet powerful “seed”)
Key Points To Remember:

1 ) Death unto sin is necessary before being gifted with new righteous bodies.

2 ) Righteousness grows gradually conforming specifically towards God's programmatic system.

3 ) Production of Fruits of the Spirit guarantees acceptance into God’s barn.

Prayer: I pray for the grace to maximize God’s plan of prosperity for us on earth and in His kingdom, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Stay blessed eternally!

*3RD SEPTEMBER 2023*

*FRUIT OF LIES*

*BRIEF SERMON ANALYSIS*

*HOSEA 10:12-15*
*ACTS OF APOSTLES 5:1-11*

_Halleluyah!_

A hunter went on a hunting expedition and returned home with only one successful hunt but went to the king’s palace to claim he had thirty successful hunts, just to impress people. When he consumes his single successful hunt, he will have to also consume his twenty-nine lies.

The sin of Ananias was not in keeping back part of the purchase money, but in pretending to have brought all to the Apostle. He lied!

*What are the lessons?*

1. Seeking praise or people’s validation leads to living a life of lies and hypocrisy

Ananias and Sapphira look just like another church member named Barnabas (introduced in Acts 4). Barnabas had just sold his property and brought the money to the apostles, and to the casual observer, Ananias, and Sapphira were doing the same thing. But deep in their heart lingered a love of money and a desire for people’s praise. So they conspired to present a portion of their money while passing it off as the entire amount.

2. Trying to impress others leads us to do wrong

The same desire to impress others that led Ananias and Sapphira to lie is the same desire that leads many people to do the wrong things. For example, attempting to appear rich may lead people to borrow money to buy things they can’t afford or even steal to do the same thing. They may not even want to do a certain thing, but the recognition it promises leads to placing their preferences aside.

Trying to impress others led Ananias and Sapphira to their death. While we may not die immediately when we try to impress others, it undoubtedly takes us down a path that makes us worse off. So don’t try to impress others. People don’t care about what we have or do as much as we think they do.

3. We cannot hide from God.

Always remember that nothing is hidden from God. The Holy Spirit knows our thoughts as if they were being played through a loudspeaker or being displayed on a screen.

A day will come when every secret will be proclaimed from the housetops. Ananias and Sapphira knew but forgot. When you proclaim with your lips that “Jesus is Lord” and live as if His law doesn’t matter, don’t deceive yourselves into thinking that you’ve successfully tricked God.

4. An example of judgment.

Not everyone who lies gets struck down immediately for their sin, but the case of Ananias and Sapphira served as an illustration of God’s judgment. God takes something that is true in the kingdom of God and puts it on physical display. We see this most often through the healing miracles, but it is equally true of this judgment.

God doesn’t do this with everyone who lies to the Holy Spirit today. But that should not cover up the fact that this death is a picture of how God feels about it. It is a glimpse of the future judgment for all who share in the heart of Ananias and Sapphira.

5. Fear is a part of worship.

Unsurprisingly, these dramatic deaths caused a great deal of fear (Acts 5:5, 11). We may be shocked to see that despite what happened, “more and more people believed in the Lord” (Acts 5:14). Fear is an integral part of worship.

For those of us familiar with the idea of an infinitely loving God, this is very true. But God’s love only makes sense when we know the magnificence of his glory and the might of his power.

One of the best definitions of the fear of God is awe mixed with intimacy. We are invited into the closest possible relationship with God, but this intimacy must never overshadow the majesty of who God is.

6. Things Aren’t Always What They Seem

The story of Ananias and Sapphira encourages us to think before we make conclusions. The outsiders looking at Ananias and Sapphira’s great act of generosity would naturally come to the wrong conclusions because they wouldn’t have known what the couple indeed did. They might have thought to themselves that they weren’t as generous because they weren’t capable of doing something similar. That feeling and similar feelings that we might feel because we think we aren’t as good as someone else might turn out to be based on a lie.

7. Be Wary of Negative Influence.

Ananias and Sapphira agreed to lie about the amount of money they received from selling their property. This goes to show that one of them had a negative influence on the other or both of them initially having the wrong heart reinforced each other’s bad character. In correcting some believers who started to say there is no resurrection of the dead, Paul made the same point. He said ‘Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character” (1 Corinthians 15:33).

Conclusion:

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground. For it is time to seek Jehovah until He comes and rains righteousness on you.

Do not plow wickedness so that you will not reap iniquity and eat the fruit of lies. The fruit of lies is death; death of relationships, careers, marriages, physical life, and most unfortunately, spiritually.

*Prayer:*

May the Lord grant us a heart of righteousness that we may enjoy His abundant mercy, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

STAY BLESSED FOREVER.
