VICAR'S CORNER!!
Theme: Demonstrating Christian concern, commitment and care.
The greatest Commandment according to the scripture is Love. This is brotherly affection towards one another. This forms the bedrock that guides our character and attitude as we relate to each other. This is a call to responsibility.
In Ezra 1:1–8, it was clear on how practical care and commitment was demonstrated through obedience and generosity.
God stirred the heart of King Cyrus and the people to support the rebuilding of His house. They gave willingly—resources, encouragement, and leadership. This is a challenge to Christians today . It is practical care and not just emotional; it is active, sacrificial, and responsive to God’s prompting. When God moves, committed believers respond with tangible support for His work and for others.
In Rev 2:12–end (the message to the church in Pergamum), Jesus acknowledges their commitment in holding fast to His name, even in a difficult and hostile environment. However, He rebukes them for tolerating false teachings and compromise. This teaches that true Christian concern and care must include faithfulness to truth and moral integrity. It is not enough to appear committed outwardly; believers must also guard against corruption and stand firm in righteousness.
Christian concern, commitment, and care involve:
• Obedience to God’s will and readiness to act (Ezra 1).
• Generosity and practical support for God’s work and people.
• Steadfast faith in challenging times (Rev 2).
• Zero tolerance for compromise with sin and false doctrine.
• A balance of love, truth, and holiness.
True Christian care is therefore active in service, firm in faith, and pure in doctrine, reflecting both compassion and conviction.
How true are we responding to these expectations as we continue to expand the kingdom of God among men.
May grace abound for us, not just to be hearers of the word, but doers, because our actions speakers louder than our voice.
Practical Christianity is seen not in what we say, but how we show love and concern to others who may not even qualify for it." Let someone else weight become your concern until Jesus' weight becomes their Comfort"
Remain blessed 🙏.
