*WORD OF LIFE*

Your words have been harsh against Me, says the Lord, yet you say, what have we spoken against You?
You have said, it is useless to serve God; what profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, and what we have walked as mourners before the LORD of hosts?
So now we call the proud blessed, for those who do wickedness raised up; they even tempt God and go free. Malachi 3:13 -15.

PRINCIPLE OF ENTHUSIASM (B)

Specifically we look at..

Effects of serving without enthusiasm

These are also effects of serving grudgingly. Candidly, they are reasons why we should not begrudge God in our services.

Note that in the passage believers in God were consecrated unto God and served Him in holiness. However, they noticed that the ungodly people were blessed while they lacked good things. They then begrudged God and questioned the profit for serving God.
When you serve grudgingly....

A. You are evaluating, judging, and condemning God by that attitude and action or word. God considers it as saying strong, hard, harsh, arogant, and terrible things against Him. Mal. 3:13-14.

B. You are raising yourself, your wisdom or knowledge above that of God. You are claiming to be wiser or more knowledgeable than God. You are actually saying that if it was you, you would have handled your case better than how God is handling it.

C. It is a demonstration of foolishness and ignorance while claiming be wise and knowledgeable. You don't know what God is doing concerning your case. Instead of asking God for clarification or mercy you are blaming and begrudging Him.

D. It also amounts to putting God to test and it can make one to incur God's wrath instead of His blessings. 1 Cor. 10:10-11.

E. It can make one to lose focus and take one's heart from God and His service and derail from faith. Actually, God regards lukewarm and loveless attitude in Christian service or race as a fall. He, therefore, commands that we should repent of it, return to Him and repeat our first love and fervently serve Him. Rev. 2:4-5; 3:15-16.

F. Begudging God and complaining in God's service can remove God's presence and protection from one's life and open the person to attacks by the devil and destroyer. 1 Cor.10:10. Of course, it can make God to turn against the person and hand him over to serve his enemy in severe suffering. Deut. 28: 47-48.

G. God commands that we serve Him in joy. Therefore, serving Him grudgingly amounts to serving in disobedience and sin. This pollutes or defiles one's life and service and makes them unacceptable to God.

H. It will make the person's service to be unprofitable to his members or listeners and by extension to God and himself. This means labouring for nothing. Remember also the unprofitable servant that he lost relationship with his master. In addition, his service, talent, endowments, freedom, and peace were withdrawn from him and he was handed to torment. Beware and be warned.

I. God commands us to do our services such as exhortation, giving, leading, and teaching with cheerfulness. Rom. 12:7-8,11. Indeed, He loves whatever is done for Him with gladness. This means that He dislikes, detests, and rejects services that are done grudgingly with complaints. 2 Cor.9:7.

May God help you to serve Him cheerfully.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Give honour and glory to God for the opportunity to serve Him.

2.Pray, Lord, help me to walk with you by the guidance of the Holy Spirit and in wisdom.

Lord make my life to advertise you and bring multitude to your kingdom.

3. May God be with you this week and always.

May He subdue opposition and remove obstacles before you.

May He open doors to His manifold treasures unto you and magnify Himself in your life in Jesus name.

For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; I will be their God, and they shall be my people. None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, know the LORD, for all shall know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them.
Hebrews 8:10-11

*KNOWING GOD WE SERVE (8)*

Specifically, we look at..

CATEGORIES OF RECIPIENTS OF GOD'S REVELATION AND WORD

Note that people fall into three categories in terms of how they receive God's word and revelation from God's Spirit.

1. The natural man

These are unregenerated or not converted. Their minds are blinded by the devil who puts a veil over their minds, thus they can't appreciate or understand the gospel or the word of God. 2 Cor. 4: 3-4

2. The spiritual man

They are regenerated and spiritually minded and mature. They have the ability to understand and respond to God's word or truth. God writes His word upon their minds and hearts by His Spirit for them to understand it and know Him. Heb. 8:10-11.

3. The Carnal man

These are spiritually immature believers. They live more after the flesh than under the control of Christ and His word. They are shallow in knowledge and obedience to God's word because they are unable to receive and endure hard and deep teachings of the word of God. 1 Cor. 3:1-3 Heb. 5:12-14.

This makes the carnal person to live by the dictates of the flesh and manifest the works of the flesh like envy, strife and lovelessness.

The categorization gives us insight as believers and preachers of God's word. It also places responsibility upon our lives in order to succeed as we search and preach God's word.

For the unbelievers, we need to pray that God remove the veil from their hearts and obliterate the dullness and deadness of their hearts. Pray also that God give them understanding of His word so that the light of God's word will shine into their hearts to understand the word and believe God's word and be saved. Acts 16:14; 2 Cor. 4: 5-6.

Concerning mature believers, we need to continue to pray that God will also open their eyes or spiritual mind to see wondrous things from God's word and understand it. Psa.119: 18; Lk. 24: 45.

Pray also for them that they will continue to love and hunger after God and his word and live by its principles and provisions.

Again for the carnal or immature believers, we need to pray the following prayers for them:
That God will make His word to work deeply upon their minds to cleanse and transform them so that their lives will conform to Christ and not the world. Pray that Christ will be formed in them that their lives will manifest the character of Christ Gal. 4:19.

Pray that they will stand firm in God's word and the path of righteousness. Pray that they will become mature, stand perfect and complete in knowing and doing God's will. Col. 4:12.
We also need to teach them the foundational and other truth of God's word and disciple them.

May God sanctify you and keep you pure to the end.

PRAYER POINTS

1. Magnify God for making Himself and His word known to you by the Holy Spirit.

2. Pray that God help you to become mature, overcome the flesh and have clear understanding of His word and practice it.

3. May God sanctify you spirit,soul and body. May He enable you to walk with Him steadily and steadfastly. You will not fail, fall or falter. His hands will lift your high in Jesus name. Amen.
