_RETURN TO YOUR FORTRESS, YOU PRISONERS OF HOPE!_
By Evangelist Patrick Asu, Founder, Ecumenical Ministry
_(Evangelist Patrick Asu preaching at the November programme on Friday, 7th November)_
*Breaking Free from the Chains of Despair*
As we gathered at the Ecumenical Ministry last week, on Friday, 7th November, the theme "Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope!" (Zachariah 9:12, NIV) resonated deeply with our hearts. The word "fortress" evokes images of strength, refuge, and security - a safe haven from the storms of life.
*The Reality of Spiritual Captivity*
We often find ourselves trapped in the prisons of our own making - prisons of fear, anxiety, doubt, and uncertainty. The enemy seeks to hold us hostage, making us feel powerless and hopeless. But God says, "Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope!"
*God's Message of Hope*
The prophet Zechariah declares, "Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope; even now I declare that I will restore double to you!" (Zachariah 9:12, NIV). This scripture reminds us that God is our refuge, our stronghold, and our safe place. In our daily struggles, we face numerous challenges that can leave us feeling defeated and helpless. But God invites us to return to Him, to seek refuge in His presence, and to find strength in His mighty power.

*The Fortress of God's Presence*
The Bible says, "The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a fortress in times of trouble" (Psalm 9:9, NIV). When we return to God, we find a safe haven from the storms of life. He becomes our refuge, our shelter from the enemy's attacks.
*Practical Steps to Return to Your Fortress*
1. *Prayer*: Seek God's presence through prayer, pouring out your heart to Him.
2. *Faith*: Trust in God's goodness and sovereignty, even in uncertainty.
3. *Worship*: Focus on God's majesty and power, lifting your voice in praise.
4. *Community*: Surround yourself with believers who can support and encourage you.
*Light in the Darkness*
On the last day of the programme, the man of God, Evangelist Patrick Asu, used a powerful symbol - the candle light - to remind us that God is the light in our path, shining brightly even in the darkest moments. Just as a candle dispels darkness, God's presence illuminates our lives, guiding us through uncertainty and leading us to victory.
*Restoration and Redemption*
God promises to restore double to those who return to Him. This means redemption, healing, and restoration in every area of our lives. As we return to our fortress, we can expect God to:
- Heal our brokenness
- Restore our relationships
- Renew our minds
- Revive our spirits
*Conclusion*
As we conclude this programme that took place last week, on 7th November, we are reminded that God is our fortress, our refuge, and our safe place. Let us return to Him, seeking His presence and power. May we find strength in His mighty hand and experience the restoration and redemption that only He can bring.
To God be all the glory, honor, and praise!
