MY MOTHER, MY MODEL
Text: 1 Sam. 25:18–31
Motherhood is not merely biological; it is spiritual, influential, sacrificial, and prophetic. A mother is heaven’s instrument for shaping destinies, preserving homes, and building generations.
Today, many children rise or fall based on the influence of motherhood around them. A godly mother is not only a caretaker — she is a builder of destiny, a prophetic shield, and a spiritual compass.
1. A MODEL MOTHER ACTS WITH WISDOM IN TIMES OF CRISIS
Wisdom is the beauty of motherhood. A mother who waits until things collapse before acting is dangerous to her family. Wise mothers discern danger early and take spiritual and practical steps.
Some mothers escalate problems with harsh words, favoritism, anger, and pride. But model mothers calm storms.
2. A MODEL MOTHER BECOMES A DESTINY PRESERVER
Real mothers fight battles nobody sees. Many mothers:
Pray while others sleep, Fast secretly for their children, Cry before God, Carry burdens silently.
Some children are alive today because their mothers stood in prayer against destruction. Behind many great men is a praying mother.
3. A MODEL MOTHER SPEAKS LIFE AND DESTINY
Many homes suffer because words spoken there are full of curses, insults, comparison, and negativity.
Some children hear:
“You will never succeed!”
“You are useless!”
“You are stubborn like your father!”
Words are spiritual seeds.
A model mother speaks:
encouragement,
correction with love,
Mothers must become prophetic voices in their homes.
Your tongue can either build giants or produce broken people.
4. A MODEL MOTHER IS HUMBLE, YET POWERFUL
Humility is not weakness; it is controlled strength. Today, society celebrates pride and rebellion, but heaven still honors humility.
Wisdom knows when to pursue peace. Pride invites resistance, but humility releases grace.
James 4:6 says:
“God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
5. A MODEL MOTHER LEAVES A LEGACY
Long after beauty fades and strength declines, character remains. A mother’s greatest inheritance is not land, money, or property — it is godly influence.
Ask Yourself:
What are my children learning from me?
Am I modeling prayer or hypocrisy?
Am I modeling holiness or compromise?
Am I modeling faith or fear?
If my children become exactly like me spiritually, will I be proud?
EXHORTATION
Every destiny needs a godly model.
Children are mirrors; they reflect what surrounds them.
The church needs mothers:
full of prayer,
full of wisdom,
full of discernment,
full of Holy Ghost fire,
full of compassion,
and full of righteous example.
The greatest sermon many children will ever hear is the life their mother lives daily.
Mothers, God is calling you higher.
Your assignment is bigger than cooking food and paying school fees. You are shaping eternity.
Do not abandon:
the altar of prayer,
the ministry of intercession,
the ministry of character,
the ministry of godly example.
“My Mother, My Model” is not merely a theme — it is a divine calling.
Like Abigail:
be wise,
be prayerful,
be discerning,
be humble,
be prophetic,
and be a preserver of destiny.
May God raise mothers whose children will rise tomorrow and say:
“My mother was my first preacher, my first counselor, my first intercessor, and my greatest model 🙏
