Today we had MARRIAGE AND RELATIONSHIP SUNDAY with our Father Rev Israel O. Ubiomoh
Topic: Building a stable Marriage and Relationship
Text: Genesis 24:67
A stable marriage does not happen by chance. It is not a product of luck or emotions alone. A stable marriage is built intentionally, consistently, and with commitment from both parties. Marriage is a choice that must be backed by responsibility, sacrifice, and daily effort.
What Is a Stable Marriage?
A stable marriage is one that is firm and well-established.
It is a marriage that stands strong despite challenges.
Marriage cannot be built by one person alone; it requires the active input of both partners.
Marriage is not about cohabitation or convenience. It is a covenant that must be managed wisely. Anything not managed will eventually collapse, including marriage.
Foundations of a Stable Marriage:
To build a stable marriage and healthy relationship, the following principles must be practiced:
1) A Guided Marriage
A stable marriage must be guided.
When a marriage lacks guidance, it lacks direction. Guidance may come through counsel, mentorship, spiritual leadership, and Godly principles. A guided marriage helps couples make wise decisions and avoid avoidable mistakes.
2) Be a forgiver
Forgiveness is vital in marriage.
Two imperfect people will offend each other. Without forgiveness, bitterness and resentment will destroy the relationship.
3) Serve God Together
Couples who serve God together grow stronger together.
Shared spiritual activities strengthen unity and understanding.
4) Commitment to Each Other
Marriage requires commitment beyond feelings.
Selfishness has no place in marriage because selfishness kills marriages. Commitment keeps the marriage standing during difficult seasons.
5)Playing Your Role
Each partner must understand and faithfully play their role.
When roles are ignored or neglected, conflict and imbalance arise.
6)Be Open to One Another
Openness builds trust in marriage. When couples communicate honestly, sharing thoughts, feelings, and concerns without fear, misunderstandings reduce and intimacy grows. A stable marriage thrives where there is transparency, not secrecy.
A stable marriage is built, not found.
When marriage is guided, rooted in sound principles, practiced with forgiveness, commitment, and responsibility, it becomes firm and lasting.
