Sermon Title: The Mystery of Faith
_Text: Hebrews 11:1, 1 Timothy 3:9, Mark 4:30-32, Romans 4:17-20
Introduction
Faith is a mystery.
The world can’t explain it. Logic can’t measure it. But heaven responds to it.
1 Timothy 3:9 “...holding the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience.”
Mystery = something hidden from the natural mind, but revealed to those who believe.
You can’t see faith. You can’t weigh it. But you can see what faith produces.
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Today: 4 Mysteries About Faith That Will Change Your Life
1. The Mystery: Faith Calls Things That Are Not As Though They Were
Romans 4:17 “...God... calls into existence the things that do not exist.”
In the natural, you call what you see.
In faith, you call what God said.
Abraham was 100 years old and called himself “father of many nations” when he had no child.
That’s the mystery. Faith speaks ahead of manifestation.
God created the world this way: “And God SAID...” Genesis 1
When you speak God’s Word, you’re partnering with creation power.
Application: Stop confessing your situation. Start confessing your scripture.
Your mouth is a womb. What you say, you will carry.
2. The Mystery: Faith Moves What Is Immovable
Mark 11:23 “Whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart... it will be done.”
Mountains represent problems, debt, sickness, delay.
The mystery is: small faith can move big mountains.
Mark 4:31-32 “The kingdom of God is like a grain of mustard seed... yet when it is sown it grows...”
Small seed. Big tree. Small faith. Big results.
Faith doesn’t ask “How big is the problem?”
Faith asks “How big is my God?”
Application: Don’t pray _“God, make the mountain smaller.”
Pray _“God, make my faith bigger.”_ Then speak to the mountain.
3. The Mystery: Faith Sees Before It Sees
Hebrews 11:27 “By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger, for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.”
Faith is spiritual eyesight.
Noah built an ark when there was no rain _Heb 11:7
Abraham left his country not knowing where he was going _Heb 11:8
The world says: “Seeing is believing.”
Faith says: “Believing is seeing.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 “We walk by faith, not by sight.”
Application: Get a picture from God’s Word. Hold it.
Even when nothing is changing, keep seeing it until it appears.
4. The Mystery: Faith Works Through Love and Patience
Galatians 5:6 _“For in Christ Jesus... faith working through love.”
Hebrews 6:12 _“...through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
This is the mystery people miss.
Faith is not shouting and forcing. Faith is trusting and resting.
Faith works:
1. Through Love - When your motive is right, heaven moves
2. With Patience - Seed takes time. Don’t dig it up to check it
The woman with the issue of blood pressed through a crowd for 12 years _Mark 5.
Her faith didn’t quit. And one touch changed everything.
Application: Don’t let delay destroy your faith.
God is never late. He’s always on time.
What Kills The Mystery of Faith?
1. Reasoning - “How can this work?”_ Faith doesn’t need to understand, it needs to obey
2. Fear - Fear is faith in reverse
3. Comparing - “God did it for her, why not me?”_ God deals with you individually
How To Grow In This Mystery
1. Hear the Word - Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing
2. Speak the Word - Put it in your mouth daily
3. Act on the Word - Faith without works is dead _James 2:17
4. Protect the Word - Don’t let doubt, fear, and people talk you out of it _Mark 4:15
Conclusion / Altar Call
Faith is a mystery, but it is not complicated.
It’s simply taking God at His Word.
You don’t need great faith. You need faith in a great God.
The same faith that raised Jesus from the dead lives in you _Rom 8:11.
Your miracle is on the other side of your _“I believe.”
Mark 9:23 “All things are possible for one who believes.”
