*THURSDAY, JUNE 16, 2022*

*THE ROLE OF INTERCESSION IN SPIRITUAL GROWTH*

*BIBLE READING: EPHESIANS 1:15-23; ISAIAH 66:8; 2THESSALONIANS 3:8*

*“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you.” Galatians 4:19(KJV)*

According to the Scriptures, there are different kinds of prayers which include the following:

*1. Prayer of Thanksgiving*
*2. Prayer of Faith*
*3. Prayer of Petition*
*4. Prayer of Consecration*
*5. Prayer of Supplication*
*6. Prayer of Intercession*
*7. Prophetic Prayer*
The Prayer of Intercession, however, is focused towards others (for souls, family, nation, etc) and usually requires persistence. By definition, persistence is a consistent insistence that you will have whatsoever you are praying for. In other words, during the Prayer of Intercession, you pray until you obtain a note of victory and the burden lifts.*(Isa. 62:6-7)* It's also called *PUSH*, meaning; Pray Until Something Happens. You never give up. In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus taught about persistence in prayers citing the case of a widow whopersisted with a judge who neither feared God nor man and ended up prevailing because she remained persistent till the very end.

Apparently, there is a difference between someone who prays and an intercessor i.e., the latter stays on that issue until victory is obtained. Consequently, intercession plays a vital role in Spiritual Growth and Development, hence Paul said, *My little children for whom I travail again in birth until Christ be formed in you.”* Gal. 4:19(KJV) Notice the word "again". In other words, he had travailed over them before now.

There are two types of intercession over the souls of men. Firstly, the intercession made to birth their salvation, breaking the influence and hold of darkness over the souls of men into the Kingdom which results in the New Birth Experience. Secondly, after they have entered the Kingdom, the Second Travail is to get them established in the Faith unto Spiritual Maturity *(Eph. 1:15-23; Colossians 1:9-10; Eph. 3: 14-21).*

Finally, while praying for young believers (new converts), it is imperative to use the above listed Pauline Spirit-Inspired Prayer for them until Christ becomes formed in them.

*PRAYER:*

Father, thank You for the Grace of Intercession and Supplication. Please pour upon us afresh the Spirit of Prayer and Intercession to pray effectively and effectually according to Your Plans and Purposes here on Earth in Jesus' Name. Amen.

*WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15, 2022*

*THE POWER OF ENVIRONMENT*

*MATTHEW 9:23-25; PSALM 1:1-4; PROVERBS 13:30; 1CORINTHIANS 15:33*

*"And He cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto Him, and besought Him to touch him. And He took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when He had spit on his eyes, and put His Hands upon him, He asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, “I see men as trees, walking.” After that He put His Hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly. And He sent him away to his house, saying, “Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town." Mark 8:22-26(KJV)*

Environment can be defined as the surroundings or condition in which a person, animal, plant or thing lives and operates. It contributes more than 50% of what determines the outcome, progress and survival of any individual, group or thing. It is the reason why certain plants cannot grow in certain locations; it is the reason why peer pressure is such a powerful thing for young people to deal with. It is the reason why children that grow up in certain families turn out in a particular way as compared with those that grow up in a different family setting. Environment is so powerful that until you deal with the issue of environment any effort you make otherwise will be fruitless and unproductive.

There are different types of environment:
*(1.) Physical Environment.* *(2.) Spiritual Environment.*
*(3.) Social Environment.*
*(4.)Economic Environment.*
In fact, anything that exists creates an environment and also requires an environment to survive and thrive. The Bible warns us about the types of social environment we should avoid. *(Ps. 1:1-4, 1Cor. 15:33).* These social environments mentioned in these Scriptures also creates a spiritual environment that will harm our spiritual well being. This issue is so serious that the Lord God Almighty even warned Israel about their physical environment and why they should maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness as regards their excretory habits. *(Deut. 23:12-14)*

Jesus in His Earthly Ministry also understood the Power of Environment. To be able to perform certain miracles and healings, He ensured He created the Right Spiritual Environment and avoided the wrong ones as can be seen in our main Bible passage above. If Jesus could pay attention to the Power of Environment, who are we to treat it lightly? We must realize that destiny is location sensitive. You won't thrive in every environment, and certain supernatural manifestations would not be possible in some environments. *(Mk. 6:2-5).* You must learn to obey promptly when the Spirit leads you to do something about your environment, whether it has to do with changing your friends, moving out of your family abode like in the case of Abraham, *(Gen. 12:1)* or staying in the location that God has called you to (like in the case of Jonah). The impact of environment on how we turn out in life cannot be overemphasized.

*PRAYER:*

Father, we pray that You give us an understanding of the role environment plays in our lives and walk with You. Please grant us the grace to always strive to maintain the right environments and avoid the wrong ones in Jesus' Name. Amen.

*A PRIEST OFFERS GIFTS*

*For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Hebrews 5:1*

Another major core function of the priest is to offer gifts to God. Under the Old Testament, the people of Israel will bring the animals to the tabernacle and hand them over to the Priest who goes ahead to prepare them and sacrifice them in line with the commandments of God.

*Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the Lord, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock. If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord. And he shall put his hand upon the head of the burnt offering; and it shall be accepted for him to make atonement for him. And he shall kill the bullock before the Lord: and the priests, Aaron's sons, shall bring the blood, and sprinkle the blood round about upon the altar that is by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And he shall flay the burnt offering, and cut it into his pieces. And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire upon the altar, and lay the wood in order upon the fire: And the priests, Aaron's sons, shall lay the parts, the head, and the fat, in order upon the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar: But his inwards and his legs shall he wash in water: and the priest shall burn all on the altar, to be a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord.../ and the priest shall burn it upon the altar, upon the wood that is upon the fire: it is a burnt sacrifice, an offering made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the Lord Lev 1:1-9,17*

From the above scripture you see that the offering was to be accepted by the Priests and offered at the altar on behalf of the giver unto God.

Today however, the blood of Jesus has given us all access, we can boldly come before the altar here on earth and the throne of grace in heaven which is the altar in heaven where Jesus our High Priest functions. This access makes it possible for us to come to God's altar here on earth and offer our gifts to God.

As a Priest, you must always saturate the altar of God not just with your incense of worship but with your gifts and sacrifice. God expressly commanded that none should appear before Him empty. Each year every man in Israel must celebrate these three festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Harvest, and the Festival of Shelters. On each of these occasions, all men must appear before the LORD your God at the place he chooses, but they must not appear before the LORD without a gift for him. Deut 16:16 NLT

Your gift shows God where your heart lies. If you are struggling to give to God what He has given you, your attachment to that thing is rivaling your love for God. The sacrifice of Jesus gives us all equal and tremendous power with God but the quality and frequency of your own sacrifice on your God’s altar is one of the determinants of how much of that power will get to flow through you.

Like Cornelius, you must ensure that heaven does not just have a record of your prayers, let your giving also be a memorial before God and you will have power with God and with men. *And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God. Acts 10:4*

*ACTION:*
*Make a fresh commitment to become an ardent giver in the house of God and to His cause.*

*PRAYER:*
*Father make me a channel for your material blessings here on earth.*

*Pray for the supply of resources needed for the Teens Summit and the Women Convention all over the ministry.*

*Pray for the forthcoming UK convention with Pastor David Ogbueli; that there will be a mighty move of God and the demonstration of His power and glory like never before.*
