A CALL TO FAITHFUL SERVICE: HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 16TH ANNUAL SYNOD MINISTERIAL SESSION.
We give thanks to God for the successful commencement of the Ministerial Session of our 16th Annual Synod at Zion Methodist Church, Karshi. The Bishop, The Rt. Rev. J. O. Kehinde Adeyemi, Ph.D., FICT, delivered a soul-stirring address themed "I WILL FIGHT FOR YOU"" (Exodus 14:14).
To the ministers and laborers, here are the key pillars of the Bishop's charge to the Ministers and labourer in God's vineyard:
1. Our "Red Sea" Moments & God’s Promise.
The Bishop acknowledged that we minister in times of hardship, insecurity, and economic strain. Yet, the promise of Exodus 14:14 is our anchor. Our "Red Sea" moments are not the end, but the stage upon which God reveals His saving power.
2. Guarding the Spiritual Life.
A public ministry can never be stronger than a private devotion. We are charged to nurture our communion with God daily and protect our hearts from pride and bitterness. Remember: the people we serve draw strength from our example as much as our preaching.
3. Faithful & Courageous Preaching.
We are called to declare the whole counsel of God—not to echo popular opinions or soften the truth to gain applause. Let our voices be guided by love and compassion, but never by compromise.
4. Shepherding with Compassion.
The flock is diverse; some are strong, while others are weary. We are called to be under-shepherds who reflect the heart of Christ—patient, gentle, and attentive. People are not projects; they are souls redeemed by grace.
5. Integrity as Our Foundation.
Credibility before God and man depends on character, not just eloquence. We must handle the work of the Lord with clean hands and pure hearts, choosing righteousness over reputation and truth over convenience.
6. Financial Discipline & Accountability.
Financial integrity is a sacred responsibility. We are charged to live within our means, avoid unnecessary debt, and maintain transparency in church finances. Prudence in money matters secures the stability of both our families and the Church.
7. Strengthening Unity & Mentorship.
We must be peacemakers and bridge-builders, refusing to let division take root. Furthermore, we must intentionally pour into the "Timothys" of the next generation, guiding them in doctrine and endurance so the mission of the Church continues after we are gone.
8. Care of the Family & Personal Wellbeing.
Our first ministry begins at home. A neglected home silently weakens our public ministry. The Bishop also emphasized the "Place of Exercise" and regular medical check-ups, reminding us that our bodies are instruments for God's work that must be cared for with wisdom.
In Conclusion:
As we go forth in renewed strength, let us remember the Bishop's personal commendation: “The one who calls you is faithful, and He will do it” (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
Let us continue to serve with unalloyed and unwavering support for the growth of the Diocese of Nyanya.
