*Gleaning from Daily Guide today (Numbers 4:1-20)*
*Census for service*
Numbers 4:4,18
*"“The duties of the Kohathites at the Tabernacle will relate to the most sacred objects...[Since] the tribe of the families of the Kohathites [are only Levites and not priests], do not [by exposing them to the sin of touching the most holy things] cut them off from among the Levites."*
Some rarely understand the implication of standing before a mighty God. As a result, the reverence for God is downplayed in many places. Even when the reverence is present, it is mostly directed toward the minister instead of to God. Since the penalty for touching the holy things was death, the Kohathites would have themselves to blame if they all perished because of disobedience. Yet, God asked Moses and Aaron to help preserve their lineage by making them abide by the rules.
God is merciful and kind, full of compassion and grace. He has no intention that anyone will perish. But we must remember that serving Him is a privilege we must not abuse. Thank God that the veil to the holy of holies was rent by Christ, granting us access into the depths of God, we must serve Him with reverence.
Dear Father, do not allow us ton perish in the line of service to You. Let us serve with deep reverence in Jesus name.
