TOPIC: RAISING A BETTER GENERATION OF SOLDIERS FOR CHRIST

BIBLE TEXT: 1 JOHN 1:1-7.

MEMORY VERSE: "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ".1 Cor. 11:1.

INTRODUCTION
Our God is a trans-generational God.

Therefore, whatever He does to a people, He would always want such to be passed to the next generations. Deut. 6:1-7 .
For instance:

* The Commandments of God, the Law of the Lord is to be kept from generation to generations. Deut. 4:40 & 6:2.

* The covenant of God is from generation to generations. Gen. 17:7 & 19 compared with Deut. 5:1-3.

* The blessings of the Lord are from generations to
generations. Gen. 12:2-3 compared with Gal.3:13-14.

From the above, God expects each generation to pass over their encounters, relationship, covenant with the Jehovah God to the next generations. Deut. 6:6-7 compared with Jer. 35:1-6.

And it must be noted that in all of the above, the latter generations are meant to be better, stronger, wiser, more powerful, more spiritual, more glorious etc. than the former; simply because the glory of the latter house is always greater than the former. Hag. 2:9.

And again, the path of the just is meant to shine brighter, generation upon generations - physically, spiritually, maritally, economically, socio-politically etc. Pro. 4:18,

OUTLINE
However, the common experience and reality is that things do not always go as God intended.

In most cases, the latter generations are even worse than, less spiritual, powerless, less glorious, poorer and weaker than the former due to the following among others.

a. The older generation sometimes might have derailed from the core of the covenant even before the new generations were born. Lev. 18:11, Ez. 11:20, Lev. 22:31

b. They may not have a well-established relationship with God not to talk of passing same to the next generations. Gen. 18:18-19 compared with 1 John 1:3 &7.

c. They may not teach the next generations the ordinances of the Lord in a clear, convincing and less-ambiguous way. Deut. 6:6-7, Pro. 3:1-5 and 4:1-7.

d. They may not be consistent and persistent in their teachings. Please, see Jer. 35:1-6.

e. The substance of their teaching may not be in tandem with the established truth of the word of God and as such, may not be verifiable in the scriptures. Acts 17:11.

f. Their lives and characters may not be consistent with what they teach. 1 Cor. 11:1 compared with 1 Tim. 3:1-7. They may not be leading by examples.

g. They may lack the power of the gospel (the Holy Ghost Power) if they are not born-again, and as such, be carnally minded. Rom. 8:4-8.

Therefore, to raise a better generation, we must take care of the above highlighted points and many more diligently.

Nevertheless, the above should not hinder the new generations from fulfilling the mind of God concerning them - being better than their forefathers as soldiers of Christ through
the following:

1. Redemption - you must be born again. That is your
enlistment into the army of God. John 1:12 compared with John 3:3-8.

2. Be empowered by the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:5 &
compared with Acts 10:38.

3. As soldier of Christ, do not entangle yourself with the worldly affairs. II Tim. 2:2-5.

4. Always study and meditate on the word of God. Jos. 1:8 and II Tim. 2:15.

5. Always renew your mind. Rom. 12:1-2..

6. Keep the communion and fellowship of the Spirit. Jude 20 compared with 1 John 1:3 &7.

7. Live and walk in the Spirit. Gal. 5:25 compared with Rom. 8:4-5.

8. Live holy and righteously. 1 Pet. 1:14-16.

9. Do not forsake the assembly of other brethren; always join up in the parade of other soldiers of Christ (Christians). Heb. 10:25.

CONCLUSION
The failure in the society and church today can be said to be due to the failure of the past leaders and fathers; because if they had instilled and inculcated the necessary instructions physically, spiritually, maritally, economically etc. into the heads and hearts of the in-coming generations, the narratives would have been different. May God help His church.

TOPIC: FOR THE SAKE OF THE GOSPEL (PART 2)

TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 9: 8 -
23.

MEMORY VERSE: "Preach the word, be instant in season, out season, reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering doctrine" II Tim. 4:2.

INTRODUCTION
The gospel is the message of hope to the wretched and world. Matt. 11:5.

Please, note that the whole world continue to be the habitation of evil, and the wickedness of the wicked will not cease until they have the gospel preached to them. Gen. 6:5 & Ps. 7:9 compared with Acts 8:22.

Therefore, to end any form of wickedness (sins), the gospel must be preached; whether to a fornicator/adulteress a drunk, a fraud, a liar, a murderer etc. the gospel must be preached.

To put an end to Boko-Haram insurgency, terrorism, to curb yahoo-yahoo and ritual killings, banditry, barbaric
killing in defence of any religious leader etc. or to bind the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives etc. the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is the answer. Isa.61:1-3.

Going by the above, we can see how important the gospel is.

Infact, our societies and nation; our homes and churches; our work and families; our lives and destinies are what they are today because the gospel does not have its free course in our midst. Please, see again Luke 4:14-21.

Until we give the gospel her rightful place in our society, families and lives, we may not life to its fullness. John 10:10.

And that is the more reason the gospel is made available to everyone in everywhere.

OUTLINE
What to do with the gospel.
* Accept it. Let the word of Christ dwell richly in your heart. Col.3:16.

Accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour and you will begin to enjoy His kingdom right here on earth. II Cor. 5:17 compared with 1 John 4:17.

* Share it.
Do not keep the goodnews to yourself, it is for all people. Luke 2:10.

Let those that have been saved rise for the salvation of others.

* Join yourself up with millions of people that are propagating the gospel across the globe.

The gospel is so important that it had been translated in almost all known languages of the world, so that language will not be a barrier any nore.

More so, it is a global commission, it must be preached in all languages.

* Please, note that all churches must be global in outlook (regardless of the native-land of the founder) which allows for translation of messages in peculiar languages.

And as such, it becomes an unpardonable error to be preaching the gospel in a local language that is alien to the dwellers of a land.

* For instance, it is an aberration for any church to be conducting services in a full blown Yoruba language in Maryland USA, or any part of the world for that matter, where Yoruba is not their native language.

A visit to our church in Suleija, Niger state, Nigeria sometimes shows that though the Leader-in-charge and his family do not speak Yoruba language, yet services are conducted in full blown Yoruba language.

The examples are many.

But one may ask what the problem with the above is?

It hinders the spread of the gospel through/by our church to the native of the lands who are non-Yoruba speakers.

A generally acceptable/official language is better.

*Do not hinder the propagation of the gospel directly or indirectly. 1 Cor. 9:12 compared with 1 Cor. 9:19-23.

It is more profitable to Christ for you to 0CCASSIONALIY wave some of your church's norms, tenets, culture and traditions for the sake of the gospel when it becomes absolutely necessary than to use it to prevent/hinder the message of the cross in your church - either from outsiders to you or from you to the outsiders.

The standard is, focus only on Christ and Him crucified.

Let every other thing be secondary to you. 1 Cor. 2:2.n

CONCLUSION
Some people hold so tenaciously to traditions in some quarters such that they cannot wave aside to hear the gospel from anyone no matter the level of his/her anointing.

To such people is the fulfilment of the word of Apostle Paul that even today when they read the Law of Moses, the veil still covers their hearts.

May the good Lord liberate His church. Please, read John 8:32.

TOPIC: FOR THE SAKE OF THE GOSPEL (Part 1)

TEXT: ROMANS 10:3-17.

MEMORY VERSE: "And they went forth, and everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen "Mark 16:20.

INTRODUCTION
The gospel is the information, the goodnews about God and His kingdom.

It is all about Christ and His power; it is then of power that has saving grace. Rom. 1:16 compared with 1Cor 1:18.

The gospel is the total package of the redemption plan of God for mankind.

It is the manifestation of the promises of God and its fulfilment which has to do with the restoration of man to his lost glory. Rev. 5:9-10.

It is the gift of God through the Lord Jesus Christ. Rom. 6:23.

Therefore, it is for anyone and everyone. Luke 2:10.

Consequently, God never left any stone unturned when it comes to the spread of the gospel. In fact, Christ said it must be preached unto the end of the world (across the length and breadth of the universe).

It is a global commission. Mark 13:10.

The only thing that is probably delaying the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ is perhaps the spread of the gospel. Mark 16:15 compared with Matt. 24:14.

OUTLINE
Salient facts about the gospel

* It is the power of God towards salvation. Rom. 1:16

* It is what Christ came for, lived for, died for and resurrected. Matt. 9.35 compared with 1 Cor. 15:14.

* It must be preached in season and out of season. 2 Tim.4:2.

* It has power unto repentance (transformational power). Mark 1:15 compared with 1 Cor. 5:17.

* It has supernatural power for the miraculous. Mark 16:15-20 compared with Acts 8:5-8.

* But it can only deliver when mixed with faith. Heb. 4:2

* It must not be preached with enticing words but in the demonstration of the Spirit and power of God.1 Cor. 2:4.

* It can impart or infuse the Holy Spirit on the hearers. Acts 10:44.

* It is the only message committed unto the church, therefore, every church is a gospel church if they truly belong to Christ including the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church and l am sure we are. Mark 16:15.

* It shall be preached all over the universe before the end of the world. Matt. 24:14. It is an international mandate. Mark 3:10.

* It must be allowed to have free course.

It must not be hindered directly or indirectly through human traditions, church culture, norms and practices. 1 Cor. 9:12 compared with 1 Cor. 9:19-23.

* We must grow in and with the gospel.
We should not remain babes and ignorant of the gospel (spiritual maturity). Acts 20:32 compared with Heb. 5:12.

CONCLUSION
It is for the sake of the gospel that we are saved, it is what we are called for and will be rewarded for.

The men of old committed themselves to this great commission.

In fact, Apostle Paul said "Woe unto me if l do not preach the gospel".1Cor. 9:16. Jeremiah said it was like a burning fire shut up in his bones..Jer. 20:19.

And God will not take it lightly with anyone or anything hindering the spread of His gospel directly or indirectly - see the example of Elymas in Acts 13:8-12: simply because it is the hope of all nations.

And that was why Paul said he became many things to so many people for the sake of the
gospel. Please, read 1 Cor. 9: 18-23.

More importantly, that is the only way the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ will not be in vain over us.

TEXT: ROMANS 10: 8 -17.

MEMORY VERSE: "He that is of God hears God's word; you therefore hear them not, because you are not of God" John 8:47.

INTRODUCTION
Many believers feel once they come to Christ and are born-again, that is the end of it all.

They think they will naturally and effortlessly grow and develop into spiritual maturity as time rolls by.

The above is far from the scriptural truth, it takes determination and conscious efforts to grow into spiritual maturity.

Paul who said "By grace are you saved" Eph. 2:8, also admonished us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling- Phil. 2:12.

Therefore, though you are saved by grace and not by works lest any man should boast, you are responsible for your spiritual growth and development into spiritual maturity.

Otherwise, you will always remain a baby in Christ and as such, be tossed away with fables and human doctrines for which you will gladly
accept and be completely sold out.

Paul explained the importance of growing into maturity in Galatians chapter 4:1-4 expressly stating that it takes spiritual maturity to claim our rights and benefits in Christ, otherwise we will be slaves to doctrines and elemental spirits out of sheer
ignorance and religiosity.

OUTLINE
Factors for spiritual growth and maturity:

* Salvation (being born - again).
Your redemption is your initiation into the family of God.

The day you are born-again by the grace of God is the day you are born into the lineage of Christ.

And you need nurturing within the family (local assembly) to grow and develop into maturity. 1
compared with 1 Pet. 2:2.

* Fellowship (church).
Like a sheep astray without a Shepherd is a Christian without a home church.

As a child needs a family to grow up properly, so a believer needs a home - church to develop spiritually.

You need fellowship with other believers who are also born-again. 1 John 1:3 3&7 compared with Heb. 10:25.

The above is why we must choose carefully the church we attend.

Any church that cannot add value to you will make you depreciate. Please note, not every gathering is a church of Christ. Please, read Matt. 7:17-23.]

* Meditation on the word of God.
A Christian needs adequate and ceaseless fellowship with the word of God through meditation -Jos. 1:8 & Ps. 1:1-3, Bible study, Sunday school classes, Christian literatures, videos etc. therefore, anyone who is not delighted in the word of God through the above media particularly the Sunday school and Bible study classes cannot be said to be a matured Christian regardless of his/her age and title in the church. John 8:47.

* Stewardship.
Working in the vineyard gives opportunity for growth and maturity as they say "practice makes perfect".

For instance, if you are fully engaged in the work of evangelism, it will help your life of holiness, as you will not want to sin where you have preached the gospel.

If you are a worker in a church that is truly spiritual, where the leaders are born again, you will mind the way you live your life or else you lose your privileged position as a worker in the house of God. 1 Pet. 1:14-16.

* Old age.
Most time, it is a great blessing to grow old in the Lord because as your age increases so also the time you have spent in the Lord would be.

The more you be with the Lord, the better your understanding of His acts and ways.

The above was exemplified by the G.O of one of the major churches in Nigeria recently, the clergyman who had condemned the use of some household gadgets calling them instruments of the devil, who abhorred usage of luxury items etc. had rescinded on his earlier doctrines which many had bought into and lived by.

The difference between his earlier and later stand on doctrinal matters is spiritual maturity that is facilitated by old age.

Because if the man had died without correcting the earlier heresies, they would have remained with the church almost forever.

Likewise, many church founders would have reviewed their church's culture, norms and practices today if they were still alive. Heb. 8:7-8 compared with Heb. 7:11-12.

CONCLUSION
It must be noted that God does not unfold His agenda for any particular person, church or society ones and for all,it is line by line, precept by precepts and that is the essence of a continuous walk with the Lord. John 16:12.

May the good Lord give us the needed understanding and Courage

TOPIC: OFFENCES

BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 5:21-25.

MEMORY VERSE: Then said He unto the disciples, it is impossible but that offences will come, but woe unto him through whom they come" Luke 17:1.

INTRODUCTION
God created human beings with gregarious instincts (we are social and relational beings), however, with our peculiarity (idiosyncrasy), we are unique in our ways of thinking, habit and behaviours.

Therefore, as long as we must live together, we cannot possibly rule out offences.

Simply because, we wound not see thing the same way, act the same way or even react the same way etc.

Nevertheless, in all of the above, the Bible encourages us to always bear with one another - Eph. 4:1-3; and even when we feel offended, our Master says we should forgive one another. Luke 11:4.

OUTLINE
The following are among what breeds offences

* Wrong associations. If you are in a wrong place, you will be the odd one out;, and you will either be offended by others, or you are the one offending them directly or indirectly, knowingly or unknowingly. Ps. 1:1-2 compared with 1 Cor. 15:33.

* Transferred aggression. Most of the time, people are actually angry for a different reason than they claim, they are angry with people other than they claim.

They are not really angry with you but your personality and achievements; what you stand for etc. because if you were the other way round, there is every likelihood that they may not be angry in any
least. Esther 1:11-12, 15-18.

* Insensitivity. Not being considerate of others
emotionally, financially, mentally, maritally etc.

* Not accepting personal responsibility. Shifting blames on others. Gen. 3:9-14.

If you do anything wrong, accept your mistake and apologise instead or giving flimsy excuses or shifting blames.

* Over depending on others for the basic issues of our lives. Mark 10:27 compared with Jer. 17:7-8.

Many things are difficult for people themselves, not to talk of being of any assistance to others.

And when they fail or disappoint, we get offended (entitlement mentality).

* Lack of mutual understanding and mutual trust: this makes you suspect each other or read meanings to
every move by the other fellow. 1 Cor. 13:4-7 and 1 Pet.4:8

Catalysts of forgiveness
The below are what can make you forgive easily.

* Redemption (salvation), a regenerated spirit and
renewed mind will easily forgive, no matter the nature of the offence and the offender. Rom. 8:5-8 compared with Rom. 12:1-2.

* Spiritual maturity. Heb. 5:12-14.

* Character development via study and meditation on the scriptures. Phil. 2:13 compared with II Cor. 3:18.

* Holy Ghost Baptism. Gal. 3:27 compared with
Gal.5:22-26.

* Living in the Spirit. 1 John 3:8-9 compared with
Gal.5:16-21

CONCLUSION
Please, note that if we are willing to live out the gospel as the epistle to the gentiles (unbelievers), we would be ready to forgive all offences no matter the gravity and regardless who offended us - be such a friend or foe.

If our heart is genuinely redeemed, transformed and regenerated, we will do everything to keep our mind void of any offence against any man/woman and even God. Acts 24:16 & Matt. 18:21-22.

MEMORY VERSE And what I say to you, I say unto all"
Mark 13:37.

INTROOUCTION
As Christians, we are on pilgrimage here, the journey will soon end and no one knows the time and season.

Therefore, we need to be watchful Besides, even to live a fulfilled life here, we have got to be watchful too, because of some predators and faith killers. 1 Pet.5:8.

By and large, we cannot afford to live carelessly if we would not make shipwreck of our faith and destiny what He says to one, He says to all, "Be watchful". Please, read Eph. 6 10-18.

OUTLINE
* As Christians, we are soldiers of Christ. And as such, we cannot but be very vigilant, simply because of the following:

* Satan is always lurking around seeking who to devour. 1Pet 5:8.

* The enemies are always waiting for our slackness and slumbering to sow their evil seeds into our lives. Matt.13:25

* We are not wrestling with flesh and blood but with
spiritual wickedness in high places.

So, we cannot afford to take things for granted if we do not want to be casualties in the battles of life. Eph. 6:12

* For us not to enter into temptation - spiritually, morally, financially, sexually etc. Matt. 26:41.

* Because our spirit might be willing and the flesh might be weak and weary. Mark 14:38.

* The end of all things is near. In fact, very near 1Pet. 4:7

* And the hour is not known to any man, not even the angels - Mark 13:30-33

* There is the need to be careful in order not to build
wrongly on the foundation that is laid. 1 Cor. 3:10-15
particularly Eph. 2:20

HOW TO BE WATCHFUL
* Accept God's offer of salvation. Be born-again
John 3:3-8.

* Repent and forsake your sins. Matt. 3:8 Acts 2:37-38

* Be baptised in the Holy Spirit. Mark 1:8 and Acts 15.

* Live and walk in holiness and righteousness.
1 Pet. 1:14-16

Always meditate on the scriptures. Ps. 119:11,67

* Maintain healthy life-style through the following

* A merry heart. Pro. 17:22 and Acts 24 16

* Bodily exercise. 1 Tim. 4:8.

* Have regular medical check-up particularly your
BP and Sugar Level.

* Watch and pray. Col. 4.2 compared with Neh. 4:9
and Luke 21:36

CONCLUSION
As belevers, we should know that we have enemies who are lurking around to pull us down -spiritually, physically, maritally, economically, politically etc.

The Bible even called the devil accuser of the brethren.

Some often think once you are saved (born again), you are free from life's temptations; that is not
Biblically true: what delivers you from life's temptation is your watchfulness among other spiritual virtues.

Therefore, heed the Master's admonition "Watch and pray"

DATE: SUNDAY 5TH MARCH, 2023

TOPIC: COVENANT KEEPING GOD

BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 9:9-16.

MEMORY VERSE: "But thou shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He that gives power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore unto your fathers as it is this day" Deut. 8:18

INTRODUCTION
God is a covenant keeping God. Gen. 9:9, 13 and 16.

He relates with people based on certain covenants. For instance, He made covenant with Abraham. Gen. 17:4, 7 and 19.

Meanwhile, a covenant is an agreement between two parties which includes
rights and privileges, as well as obligations of each member for the covenant to be in force.

OUTLINE
Throughout the history of mankind, God had made several

* Covenants with man. Such as:
* Covenant of fruitfulness. Gen. 1:28 and Gen. 17:4.

* Covenant of dominion. Gen. 1:28

* Covenant of peace. Numbers 25:12 and Isa. 26:3.

* Covenant of deliverance. Deut. 7:2.

* Covenant of wealth. Deut. 8:18.

* Covenant of old age and long life. Ps. 91:16.

* Covenant of sure protection. Ps. 125:1-3 and Isa. 54:17.

* Covenant of prosperity. 1 Kings 3:3-13 to mention just a few.

It must be noted that God does not just make covenants; He is a covenant keeping God. Deut. 7:9, Ex. 6:5 and Deut. 4:31.

The above, He exemplified in the lives of many saints in the Bible and in our contemporary history.

The lists include but not
limited to Abraham, Joseph, Mary, the Israelites in general etc.

In the life of Abraham for instance, God covenanted to make him Father of nations at a time it looked almost impossible but despite all the attended challenges, God kept His covenant with him. Rom. 4:17-21

For Joseph, God revealed His covenant of greatness to him in the dream which generated great oppositions from his brothers, but despite all the odds, God still kept His covenant with him. Please, see Gen. 45:4 and 50:20.

For the nation of Israel, the covenant is still speaking very loudly till date.

I tell you the truth, I lie not, God will never lie, His words must surely come to pass. Num. 23:19 compared with Isa. 55:8-11 particularly Heb. 6:18.

Meanwhile, the covenant is not only for the people of old, it is for us too if we care to believe; we only need to appropriate the spirit and letters of the covenants to our lives.

How to appropriate the covenants

* Receive the covenant directly through revelation
(vision), prophecy or pick it up from the pages of the
Bible.

* Appropriate the covenants of our fathers into your life through faith. Gal. 3:14

How to benefit from God's covenant

* Be a child of the covenant by being born-again. John 1:12&3:3-8

* Believe in the covenant. Luke 1:45 compared with John 11:4

* Live and work within the framework of the covenant, depart not away from it. Jer. 32:40 compared with John 15:4-5 particularly Deut. 31:20.

* Judge Him that promised to be too faithful to fail. Heb.10:23 compared with Rom. 4:20-21

* Do not depart from the terms and conditions of the
covenant. Lev. 18:4, Ez. 1120, Lev 22.31 compared
with Pro. 6:27-28.

* Always renew the covenant via some covenant mysteries like the Holy Communion. John 6:47-49
compared with 1 Cor. 11:24-25

* Always make bold declarations about the covenants. ll Cor, 4:13 and Heb. 12:6 compared with Num. 14:28

CONCLUSION
God cannot break His covenant; He is a covenant keeping God- Lev. 26:44 and Ps. 89:34.

He will always bring His words to pass no matter how long it takes or how almost impossible it may seem.

The birth of Christ Jesus by a virgin came to pass after
several hundreds of years.

Likewise, the word of Jeremiah to Tophet in Italy came to pass in year 2020 after several thousands of years. Jer. 7:32.

Therefore, just hold on, His covenant concerning you shall not fail.
